Do credit card rejections matter?

Hi guys,

I’ve never had a credit card my whole life. Something about them I don’t like. Anyway, I posted on here recently about the Barclaycard travel credit card, which is the first time I’ve been enticed.

I tried the online check to see if I’m eligible but since I earn under £24k I’m not apparently. It was a “soft check” or whatever it’s called...

Anyway Barclaycard keep sending me post to sign up for their normal Barclaycard so I fancy my chances of being accepted to the Barclaycard travel card even though I didn’t pass the soft check.

Do you guys thing it’s worth making a proper application? Also, if I get rejected will that impact my credit rating and how much? Have been a loyal customer at Barclays for 20 years and have quite a bit of money in the bank, just not earning as much as I used to. All help appreciated!

You don't have a credit rating, Just credit files.

Any application will show as a search, The decision isn't recorded. Whether a lender will be concerned by your search, and how many you have, is up to them.
