PIP cannot follow an unfamiliar route affect driving?

Please fill out the PIP form honestly. If it means that she cannot have a licence on medical grounds, then yes, she may be upset, but at least she won't be a danger to herself and others. Also, she might accept that she can't have a licence if the decision comes from the DVLA, as it is an official body. It may be small consolation, but she should be awarded a free bus pass if she is denied a licence on medical grounds. In Merseyside, the pass allows travel on buses, trains and ferries, although some areas are buses only.

I agree with the others, filling out the PIP form with complete honesty is an absolute must! The more information you put on the form about how her conditions affect her the better.

I must admit, if my daughter was visually impaired then there's absolutely no way i'd allow her to have a driving license. She won't only be putting her life at risk but others too. Whether she'll be devastated or not, something's just aren't right and this is by far one of them.

I think that it is the girl herself who wants a licence. The OP has expressed concern over whether it is right for her, and has mentioned safety considerations. It can be very hard to tell a teenager something when they refuse to listen, which is why I said that it may be easier for her to accept a refusal from the DVLA, rather than listening to her parents. The girl cannot arhgue with the DVLA, whereas she may think that her mum is just being over-protective.

I don't feel that a driving licence should be issued for someone visually impaired, who cannot read licence plates and cannot drive in the dark. The first part of the driving test was always to read a plate that the examiner points out - presumably this is still the case and this individual would fail before even getting into the car for her practical test. That is, of course, assuming that a licence is issued in the first place, and that someone is willing to teach her to drive.
