But work coaches don't have access to this to see what you are or aren't doing. Talk about scaremongering.

They have put in my agreement that i will take my log in details to signing with me so that they can make me log in so that they can have a look. They havent done it yet but somebody told me they had been sanctioned for supposedly not spending long enough on each page. Of course i dont know the whole story. Perhaps they had not applied for anything saying there wasnt anything suitable. That could lead to such a situation i guess.

Yes which would go against DWP policy, they can only request the customer to login in front of the WC on a WAD, which they can refuse, they cannot demand to be given login details and passwords.

I also don't believe that Find a Job would keep a record of this in a log on the customers account for anybody to see.

    So as I say, scaremongering.

On find a job you have 3 sections, jobs viewed, job searches and applications. In each it records the time by each action you do. So logging in in front of them would allow them to see everything you do including the timings.

Find a Job records the individual job adverts you have viewed, on what date and the time, it also records the searches you have made, for example it will say "Newcastle Page 2" and next to it states the date and time viewed. So therefore it is easy to see how long you spend on each page because you can work it out from looking at the times.

However, that doesn't suggest you are not spending enough time on pages, if you look at that page and move on a minute later that is because the job titles are not relevant to you, so of course your not spending more time on the page.

As already mentioned work coaches do not have access to your account anyway.

I don't claim UC I claim JSA but I'm still asked for evidence, so all I do is screenshot the confirmation emails and screens when I have applied for a job on my phone, and even if I have completed it on a computer or my laptop I just access my emails on my phone and screenshot the email, I then save them all in photos in a folder called Jobs and my coach looks at it every fortnight.

I also take any letters I have received confirming anything, offering interviews or rejections and any jobs I want to emphasise that I have applied for I print the email and take that.

Remember too that your work coach will want to know you have spent your time on job seeking activities not just applying for jobs, so the total time they ask you to spend doing stuff is meant to mean time spent on job seeking activities not just applying for jobs.

    E.G.

    1. Updating CV and creating cover letters
    2. Company research
    3. Careers appointments
    4. Attending interviews
    5. Completing courses, at college or distance learning
    6. Voluntary work
Showing screen shots is not much different to showing your account really. Plus I dont tell them i have a mobile as that makes for an easy sanction if they phone you on it and you miss the call. They can use it as a basis of not being contactable. Whereas if they just have your home number they cant possibly argue that you should be there at all times to answer calls.
  • I just personally find the screenshots easier.

Plus you are evidencing what you have applied for and not giving them the opportunity to look at search logs.

Anyway if they tried that with me it wouldn’t work as I never use it there’s never anything on it.

My work coach even agrees. So she’s aware she would find no search history if she checked.

I don't even use Find a Job, I have several searches set up on it and then use the daily emails from that. Nothing gets recorded as I don't sign into the site, where possible, I apply directly to the employer.
  • So what does your work coach accept from you as evidence?

I have a word document and I just add daily to that with a list of what I've done. TBH, my circumstances are such they understood that I was unlikely to find work following a road accident and offered to waive worksearch requirements during the 18 months or so of rehab.

I wanted to maintain it to keep me in a 'work state of mind', perhaps this has helped their relaxed approach with me.
  • It is mad how different work coaches accept different things as evidence and what they expect of people, It would be better if it was more consistent for everyone, bit they should always take into account everyone's individual circumstances.

You are lucky because most even reasonable ones usually expect people to use it.

Again, you are lucky because most would expect people to.
