    Hi JK,

well done for puttng K9 on. Who chose the password?
Dont forget what you did, you need to remember how it made you feel. Just accept you did it and the money is gone. But dont forget.

Well done on your 2 days :)

After 30 years of gambling, I have had enough.

Managed to reduce gambling debts over the last few years and down to just over £10k (was as high as £38k) but have been on full blown 'tilt' the last week and staked over £33k but thankfully lost only £900.

One day at a time (and today is my first day).

    Thanks

    Thanks Cantcope,

Have tried GA 3 times in the past but lapsed each time (the first time way back in 1987).

I did manage almost 2 months without a bet this year but as soon as I have a single bet I just go mad.

Dealing with the debts and lost money is bad enough, although I have always just about coped, its the waste or time / affect on work and relationships that is the worst thing.

Good afternoon all. Been a while since I was here. Well done to all the new posters and keep the strength people. Today makes 183 days clean. Nearly half a year. Has it really been that long? Goodness me. Every day brings a fresh challenge, every day I look back and don't regret giving up, I regret not giving up sooner. I feel I have come so far, but still have a long long way to go. I look at my kids and want them to respect me, so must lead by example. I must stay clean. My finances are still a struggle. Budgeting,or rather sticking to a budget has never been my strong point but we are getting there. My problem now is that I have ben advised that I we will be striking soon. That loses me a lump of money each time. Yes I know striking os not compulsory, but being a socialist, a union member, and someone who believes in democracy, I will not cross a picket line. Will not go into the ins and outs of it all, as these sites are watched by the company and mustn't talk about things on here, but suffice to say I think that the union is right on this one. They say its the public safety that will suffer and, I agree. In my opinion, you cant lose 800 staff even if its through "natural wastage" and voluntary severence without something having to give. Anyway, welcome one and all, stay clean, stay safe, and stay happy

Well done William. Try not to worry too much about struggling with your budget. Think how much you would be struggling if you were still gambling!!
the fact you are still bet free is a massive acheivement and i hope you are really proud.

Hi george, CC, William, jazz king and blue boy.

george, the family are fine than ks, ive got up early to go over and see them with some presents, cant wait to see their little faces. thanks for asking though.

JK - some tips maybe, well done so far by the way but you may want to delete some of the cookies on your computer or perhaps set up a new, fresh e mail address and let all your friends etc know.

blueboy - 1 day at a time, it gets easier but you have to make some changes along the line, take it serious, perhaps give GA more time or if you not keep in touch with us on here and we can suggest things for you. if you want to stop then changes need to be made

CC - berlin was great, didnt want to come back, thought i would find it a struggle travelling by myself but it was a great experience., Oh hows the wedding plans?

william - well done comrade, no one wants to strike, stick to your principles and dont try and get the money back through gambling because all that hard work will be undone.

as for me its nice to be home after a long trip yesterday, oh completely forgot, its 2 years since i last had a bet!!! hurrah. im not as vigilant as i used to be. ive got my own ways of keeping away from it and theyre 2 little people who need me and like someone said earlier they need a dad to be a role model and thats just what i intend to be for them

    stay strong everyone

    Thanks Riquelme,

I find it relatively easy to stop for a few weeks or even a couple of months. Equally I find it very easy to lapse - and once I do, I will be betting a huge amount. I am at least in the process of self excluding from all my on-line accounts (dozens of them), which is my particular weakness for betting on horses and sport.

    Will keep you updated.

    Thanks

Great post Riq, so glad you had a good time in Berlin and you are now back home safe. Congrats on the 2 years!!! massive achievement!

Blueboy, once you've self exluded yourself put a block on your computer. There are plenty of other sites that could tempt you if you feel the urge to gamble x

wedding plans on stop at moment, no reason, just nothing needs doing right now. going to a wedding fayre in a few weeks where we hope to choose a photographer and dj.
we've booked the venue, registrar paid, favours bought, cufflinks bought, videographer booked, suits decided for men :D
