Hi coxy, can't wait to see a picture of your finished blanket and i'm glad you're pleased with it. I've completed the body of the bag I was doing just to add in some handles now.

:hello: Louise, long time no see, so happy you have started stitching again, it was mostly fairies before wasn't it, Harry Potter will be quite a change.

I'm working on my other UFO called Wild Wolf, i'm struggling with it and I don't know why, but I will finish it. Here's the latest update.

Who-hoo just found this! Hellooooo!! Been doing a lot of crochet recently - did the attic hydrangea blanket from wool warehouse for a double bed. Clearly I am bonkers.... anyway, now returned to the cross stitch I was doing before - the poinsettia cushion from Cross Stitch Gold (issue 144). On cream rather than red and as a picture as well. Felt odd doing cross stitch again! I will be hoping for motivation.....
    The game's afoot....

    Hi all -

I’m not an avid cross stitcher but was hoping someone could help me out.

I have bought a cross stitch fabric coloured in to indicate where to stitch.

It’s a liberty pattern called briarwood. 17 x20 inches. While it has a colour chart down the side it doesn’t state what brand or number of threads to use. I don’t mind having a guess and choosing colours in a shop. (I’m fairly certain I’ll be able to choose some lovely shades). However does any one know how much thread to buy? Or could anyone give me a good indicator? I don’t want to be left with reams left over but ask don’t want to run out.

    Stashbuster - 2014 98/100 - 2015 175/200 - 2016 501 / 500 2017 - 200 / 500 2018 3 / 500

Hi RageInEden, sorry its taken so long to reply life just gets in the way sometimes, I look forward to your progress photos. I'm in awe of Lucy @attic24 for her wonderful crochet, I see she has started to cross stich now aswell so you're in good company.

Hi nimbo, do you have a link to the pattern you bought? if not can you photograph the colour chart, just a small snippet of it and we should be able to tell which brand. Both DMC and Anchor come in 8m lengths of 6 strands, normal cross stitch is 2 strands, backstitch if any is usually 1 strand.

This is a link to the pattern.

I bought it from a craft fayre - hence the lack of instructions. Haha.

I’m thinking of just going with dmc threads as I know they will be nice quality....

There are nine colours. One is white which I have plenty of. So only eight colours to buy...

Yeah I think the original maybe uses wool? I would just colour match at a shop to the nearest shade. Try 1 skein of each then buy more if needed.
