Redundancy question

Options
When being made redundant and having personal consultations after the collective consultation do the company you work for have to by law give you a actual termination date when in discussions about redundancy packages etc.

Any information would be helpful :D

There's no legal requirement to give you a date of termination until you're given notice, but I don't see how you can effectively negotiate around packages etc without a date. You need the date of termination to calculate length of service and your age at termination to work out the package anyway so they must have based it on something.

Consultation is primeraly to ovoid or reduce the impact of potential redundancies.

Discussion of termination date can be premature.

In some situations it may be sensible like we are closing(lease termination date).

There is no need for actual dates to discuss packages.
The values can change but the packages are usually discussed in term of service and notice which although variable dates are describable.
