Now, my Dh gets to choose two items a week for consumption e.g. sausage casserole plus focaccia Or fish pie and coconut biscuits.
This means I get to play in the kitchen (the only visibly clutter free room in the house) and know that my Dh is definitely enjoying what he is eating.
I try and stay a few days ahead of myself with the meal-plan (with the option of swapping a couple of days' meals around if my health/other aspect of life get in the way) and I encourage Mr LW to sit down with me and give me an idea of what he'd like to eat.
I absolutely loathe cooking, but find it less unbearable if I'm making something he's requested, if that makes any sense. :o

My next Canine guest should be here shortly; Ronnie the long-haired JRT will be staying with us from this afternoon til 5th January. :T:T:T

All the times i think how great it must be to live somewhere out in the country, miles from anywhere. And then, all those who live exactly where i want, come on here and remind me how lucky i am living where i am. Two minutes away from buses that come every 10mins, and 5mins walk away from the station with a half-hourly train. And 10mins walk to the shops.
Perhaps i should count my blessings and stay here. Moving house isn't worth the hassle.

Sorry about your health issues LW. It makes perfect sense - I am not a “natural” cook and I need to have an idea what to cook (cooking for two gets boring) BUT I get very stressed if cooking for more than two - the fear that they won’t like what I cook, that I might poison them etc. My really cluttered house means that I never invite anyone around. Mixed blessing really as my cluttered house also stresses me out hence joining the thread.

Like several previous posters have mentioned I really like your name - shows a great deal of humour and a real fighting spirit.

Mrs SD I know exactly what you mean about getting stressed cooking for more than two; I flatly refuse to do it. ;) And I do know of a case where a vegetarian, thinking she was being kind, cooked a meat dish for her guests and they all ended up with food poisoning; hence I would never, ever cook meat, even if I could bear handling it. :o
Luckily my house-guests bring their own food with them - I'm a Carer with a dog-sitting service. :D My latest guest has just arrived, btw, and is currently doing his best to sort of "bottom" me off the sofa! :rotfl:

I've just decluttered an ancient but never used address book into the box for the chazzer; I've had it for over 20 years, and if I haven't used it in all that time, I don't think I shall. It's not even practical, it's a "coffee-table book" style thing, with lots of pretty pictures of flowers in, far too big to be of real use as an address book imho; but maybe someone can make use of it. :o
The rate that box is filling up, I foresee a trip to Newport Pagnell in the near future, to drop it off at the chazzer! :o

If you can handle the noise and pollution levels where you are (which may be too high objectively speaking - or may be too high for you personally) and you can afford to stay there = a vote for stay where you are.

The noise and pollution levels were too high where I was and I couldnt afford to move to the nicer part of the city (ie the area I'd known was obviously "mine" for years and been assuming I'd move there being quite blunt about it) and so I had to move. Noise and pollution levels now okay - but general facilities not and "way of thinking" is somewhat different too. If I could afford the nicer part of my city after all - I'd move back (though I've got to know the area/made friends/etc/etc).

You don't really realise just how "inconvenient" things can be until you move somewhere where they arent. You don't really realise how different a "way of thinking" can be until you say something perfectly normal/doesnt even register with people in your area and back come disapproving looks/comments in a different area in same country (because of a different "way of thinking").

I lived in a semi-rural area where us who needed to use public transport had to plan things in advance and was so expensive!! I now live on the outskirts of a city and life is completely different. So easy and cheap to get to places. Pretty much a late shop somewhere if you need something which cant wait until morning. However I do miss certain things. The clean air. Seeing the stars every night. And the fact it gets really dark on a night with little light pollution. It really does depend on what are priorities for you? You can prepare to live in the countryside with thoughtful planning. You have a quieter life that is for sure. But even moving to a quiet village that isn't far from shops etc is more than possible so you aren't 'out in the sticks',but feel like you are - if that makes sense :D

I think a motto for us all to adopt in 2018 is

    “DO I HAVE ENOUGH?”

    I really like this:T
Unfortunately I have way too much clutter, “weigh” too much weight and way too little oomph to have a really good clear out (which I really need to start as my sister will be moving into our small house in a few months). However reading this thread (and the Hoarder threads from 2012 & 2013) is getting me into the mindset to crack on. I have a BIG birthday in two years and my aim is to be clutter free therefore stress free and leading a simpler life. I am really fortunate in that Mr SD is fully onboard and at the moment he is doing a better job than I am.
