Official Trying to Conceive - Thread 13 13th Apr 16 at 11:29 AM
This is the new thread for those trying for a baby.
    The previous one is here:

Please be aware that this is a thread for those trying to conceive. If you wish to announce a pregnancy (or are only a couple of days from testing) and you have never used this thread before, please either wait until CD1 or use the less than 12 weeks pregnant thread. Hormones can run high on here (nature of the thread!) so please be sensitive. Many thanks!

As with everything deemed medical, we cannot offer medical advice, so please visit or call your GP if you have any concerns or questions. Getting a preconception check up is recommended and allows your GP to know that you're trying for a baby as well as identifying and rectifying any issues or problems that may interfere with a pregnancy before you conceive.

So sorry to hear trying. Look after yourself.

Cheeky peach - I would definitely test again I'm a few days, some people take longer to show on tests. If it was me I would test other wise it would be on my mind for the next 4 weeks till AF turned up.

I'd probably test every 2/3 days until you were a week late then just test once a week until AF arrives if it was me Cheeky Peach.

Thanks for your replies. Are cramps still common in very early days? x

I'm not sure cheeky peach, hopefully someone else can answer that for you. Any update on the tests?/AF?

Doctors appointment tomorrow morning, slightly nervous how it's going to go.

Af has been teasing me for a couple of days with my temps being haywire too, but the cramps have arrived so I reckon she is here now!

I am unsure about that too cheeky. Annoyingly the symptoms for being pregnant and AF coming tend to be the same/ very similar for most people!

Skimper, don't be nervous. Just explain you have been trying for a while (I would seriously consider adding a few months on so they definitely take you seriously!) and would now like testing to establish if there are any issues. The first thing they should offer are blood tests at CD1-5 and CD21(ish depending on your cycle length) to check hormones and ovulation.

Just as your predicted ppk, she just asked a few questions & I'm going for my c21 blood test next week, OH has to ring in for a consultation and get a sperm analysis done.

Just popping back to say that I had cramping as if I was getting AF from 6dpo and it has only just eased up and I am now two weeks on from getting a positive.

All the signs are annoyingly so similar to af that it is hard to know!

PKK I hope the Witch stayed away!

Glad your appointment went well Skimper - fingers crossed that everything is ok!

Sadly the witch had arrived, but I knew it as soon as I got the cramps! It was the heaviest AF I have had since coming off the pill 18 months ago.

I hope you are all ok!

Sorry to hear AF arrived PKK.

fertile week is over for me and we only managed to BD once on CD14. So it was around the right time so hope for a sticky bean! I think having to BD at certain times, just took the spark out of it this month and neither of us was in the mood. I guess a month off may do us some good.

Thanks Wootsit! I'm relieved that AF finally arrived, I did start to worry as I got a neg test and had no idea what was going on. We have a holiday soon so going to OFFICIALLY start trying when we get back

I'd say sorry AF arrived peach but you seem pretty happy by it haha.

CD 21 for me today & just been for my blood test. Should get the results in about a week. Just need to get the OH to get booked in for his sperm analysis.

I guess Iím just worried about things Ďworkingí down there, my sister has PCOS and has irregular periods so Iíve always had it in the back of my head that it could be an issue for me too so having no period and not be expecting is a worry.

Good luck with your tests, everything is crossed itís good x

Sorry about AF Aunty Pickle, the TTC Journey can be a !!!!!! at times, we're all here for you if you need to vent.

I'm a week in to the tww and i'm starting to get itchy about testing, not sure why as we only BD'd once so i'm pretty sure we wont get a positive this month.

I was going to update the lists but as there's only 3 of us mulling about, is it worth it?

Maybe just do them every week or so now skimper, as there isn't so much to keep track of anyway. Hopefully some more people will delurk and join soon

Ah Aunty Pickle it can be so disheartening sometimes! I have found it very difficult the last couple of months, especially as so many other couples that got married about the same time as us are now pregnant. I'm very happy for them but it also highlights to my brain that we're not! OH has his appointment with a specialist in April so hoping they actually give us some information and prescribe something to help!

Been feeling pretty sleepy today & stomach cramps. CD25 so AF is due any day now, ovia predicts wednesday, I usually get a few days of spotting before it fully starts so if nothing before Wednesday, I'll test then.

Oh has his testing pot from the doctors, he's going to ring tomorrow & hopefully we can pop it in next week. Didn't realise how strict the rules were, we have to take it to the lab within 1 hour & keep it warm.

How are you getting on Skimper? It is really strict for the SA isn't it? Sadly for my OH he had to 'produce' at the hospital. Did you get the results of your blood test? My OH has an appointment with a specialist department in April, which seems so long away right now! But hopefully time will pass quickly.

Fertile week for us now. Even though we know there is basically no real chance of us getting a BFP it doesn't hurt to give it a go anyway does it? And at least it's enjoyable too hahaha

Cd28 today, light pink spotting, so see how we go over the next few days. Pretty sure AF will turn up though.
I've got an appointment for the end of the month to find out the results. I couldn't get in any sooner. I'm taking it they havnt found anything serious otherwise they would have got me in sooner.
We live a good 20-25 mins from the hospital we have to go to, so OH may have to produce at the hospital too! Don't think OH has booked his appointment yet.

    No harm in trying PKK!

It's strange how different areas do things differently. I got my results over the phone 3 days after the blood test similar to how you would for any blood test. However I've had friend whose doctors referred them and then they had the blood tests at the fertility clinic and they had to have appointments to get the results. There was quite a wait for my OH's appointment so try to get him to book it soon if you can, and make sure you get him to ask if there is anywhere to produce at the hospital. My friends OH presumed he had to do it there so went off to the fertility clinic and was told he should have done it at home, so poor lad had to find a quiet toilet as they didn't have any rooms!

How are you getting on skimper?

My temps are all over the show this month and don't seem to show ovulation yet, which is unusual, so will just see what happens over the next couple of weeks with my temps and when AF arrives.
