It's probably quite rare, given the number of hires per day this can't be that common; the main thing is to make sure the light goes green when the bike is put back in.

    Agreed.

To be certain the bike has been properly docked, go to the terminal (with the screen) afterwards and get a print out of the last journey.
  • So only 4 cases that you know of. Its not a lot is it given how many people around town seem to use them. If it was as frequent as your poor headline suggests then the ES wouldve been all over it already. Turns out they havent or if they have I havent seen it due to being away.

One thinks one should turn down the rhetoric with your headlines somewha, unless you're planning on joining the DM

Be thankful your are not in Boston, fail to return a hire bike within 24 hours and its a 1000 dollar charge to your card.

There are some docking stations that work less well than others. I knew of one on the Strand between Next and Boots, and for a few days checked and properly docked the bikes in that particular slot until TFL fixed it. I saved 4 or 5 people a serious overcharge (or at least their overcharges becoming even more serious, don't know how long they would have been there!)

Still, as thelawnet suggests, the onus is on the individual to make sure that the bike has been properly returned.
  • You can borrow an electric car in Paris, imagine the charge for that :p
