  • Hi All,

I am so happy to say that I am now debt free!!!

    a. The date of your lightbulb moment
May 2013 - when looking to apply for a mortgage!
    b. Debts at their highest
About £13,000 but £9885 at lightbulb moment.
    c. Debt-Free Date
    28th February 2014
    d. Your one perl of wisdom.

If you have a little wiggle room - be strict, but not too strict. I gave myself a budget for everything, but gave myself a little extra room in there - If had to spend the whole amount then that was okay, I wouldn't beat myself up about it - it meant I wouldn't need to go over the budget, but I also knew I could try and be stricter and save it for my debt - this probably spurred me on a bit more to see how much I could save!
    e. Which MSE guides helped you
    All of the debt guides!
    f. Which forum threads helped you
    So many!

I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone on here! I have learnt a valuable life lesson and I am hoping that I will never be in a situation where I am in debt again - after 10 years of being in debt,
It is a nice feeling to know that £300 a month will be staying in my account and not going to someone else!

    Thank you again everyone!
Savings target: £10,000 by December 2015!
    Total so far: £3470.00 = 34.7%

    e. Which MSE guides helped you
    f. Which forum threads helped you~~ DFW was my friend
    g. And if you had a debt diary on DFW, a link to it

I didn't have a DF diary but I have been around the DFW boards for a long time~in with the bricks!!

Although I am now DF I have further challenges to deal with.
    I will continue to plod.

I managed the last wee bit with the help of a PPI payment paid to a close relative which they shared with me as I helped them get the refund.

Keep going all~you can do it.
As Martin says there is no debt problem that cannot be resolved~it may not be easy and it may not be quick but it can be done.
Thanks to all the great people I have met on MSE~ I salute you all.
