I arrived with bundles of papers in a total mess on the edge of hysteria (no actually I really was hysterical!). They took them from me, sorted them all labelling, dating, bundling them and discarding the many copies I seemed to have acquired! Wrote clearly a plan of action and helped me book three half-hour slots of free advice with a lawyer via CAB. Unable to use my right hand on the day of court, someone from PSU sat next to me in court and silently took notes. After, she went through the notes thoroughly with me making sure I understood what the judge had said and when was the next court appearance. I cried with relief. I left the court with a spring in my step whereas I had almost been thinking of doing myself in the day before. It wasn't about win or lose, it was about understanding the court procedures, understanding all that paperwork, and allaying some of the major angst about actually being in a Court of Law unrepresented. I am totally grateful to the Personal Support Unit.
