Hello,
I am starting a new job in Tunbridge Wells at the end of August and wanted to know the most cost-effective way of travelling.
I’m eligible for a 16-25 railcard but believe I can’t use in peak hours (hours of work aren’t 8AM - 5PM)
Please can someone help me with the most cost effective way of commuting, my local train station is Eltham, but am happy to travel by bus as part of the journey.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Sam

I think you'll need to give a bit more info on what times you will be travelling as this could well make quite a difference to fares.0

You can use a 16-24 Railcard at any time of day. Just that before 10.00 a minimum fare applies.I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0

When can I use my Railcard?
Read the Minimum Fares & Time Restrictions section.0 -
The obvious route seems to be via London Bridge.
For example depart Eltham 0700 arrive Tunbridge Wells 0833.
£19.85 return each day
But it is cheaper to go via Lewisham and Orpington
For example depart Eltham 0647 arrive Tunbridge Wells 0809
£12.30 return each day. (Ticket not valid via London)
5 Anytime day returns using the railcard cost less than a 7-day season, so it looks as though that would be the best option.
The equation might be different for longer period seasons, which would also have the advantage of allowing you unlimited journeys over the route at times when you weren't going to work, such as at weekends.0
