Im not sure i have posted this in the correct section but i sent 515 to a guy in England via a bank transfer for a camera lens, he contacted me through Facebook, i have reported the case to the police and National crime bureau, had i of know a BT wasn't safe there is no chance i would have sent the money as its the second time i sent money this way, i had to go into my local branch and get help doing it as i didnt know how to do it and not once did any member of staff in the bank mention to me that it wasn't a safe way to send money, can anyone offer any help in ways that i might be able to get the money back.

Theres nothing wrong with using bank transfers, problems occur when you use it as a means of payment for stuff for sale on Facebook/Gumtree.

When did you send the money ?

Do you have his address ?
    I guess you don't.

Is his profile still up ?

You tried to find him using 192.com ? Might not work if hes not easy to find.

When I read the OP's post I immediately thought he's another newbie who has been ripped off. Then I noticed he's been a member for 7 years, and he needs warning against BT when buying stuff from Facebook!
