Stash Busting 2019 - I WILL use my mountains of craft stash before buying more! 28th Dec 18 at 11:19 AM
Hi everyone I'm back and raring to go with my stash busting challenge in 2019

The challenge is simple. From 1st January 2019 you are not allowed to buy any new craft supplies until you have used what you have (adhesives or items for orders are allowed) but of course nobody is going to hurt you if you happen to fall off into the dark (or pretty paper) side for a bit

My aim for 2019 is to make 2019 items from my stash

This thread is a great motivation to me and hopefully others so I'd love for you to join me on the journey.

Let me know what your targets are and I'll add you to challenge.

Can't wait to hear how we all get on

Well, I haven't bought any more stash (though I am tempted by a new pair of pinking shears) but I'm having my usual dither about projects so haven't actually finished anything yet.

I'm presently knitting a jumper - it's cable, and I knit slightly slower than continental drift, so I'm not expecting to finish it anytime soon (I've had it for 2 years, no need to rush things!). I also have a skirt recycled from an old denim maxi dress - it's pretty much pinned up and ready to go, just need to sew it.

Unfortunately, I'm also wanting to make myself a denim pouffe/footrest thing, having uncovered my stash of old jeans.......

No, I will be strong and knit tonight in front of the telly, and drag the sewing machine out tomorrow to sew the skirt.

Oh, finding things to make has never been a problem!

Investing the time and energy to both start and finish the things I want to make, however ....

But thank you for the encouragement, craftingmad

So far this week I have finished off two notebooks. (My craft room is filled with paper supplies) and as such I am counting when I actually use stationery as something used up. I seem to actually finish a notebook at the rate of one per year and then use one per year. So finishing two is a step forward. I also have massive writing so it doesn’t take too long. And while I can get pads at work I need to downsize the stash.

I have spent this morning making four notebooks with my cinch. I have used up odds and ends of note books and some loose papers. I seem to refuse to finish off notebooks if their use changes for some reason. One of the finished ones was used at work this week for phone messages so will take more for through the month.

I then cut my hand with my craft knife so am taking a break.

I will finish cleaning the oven. Yay.

    The hob is clean.

    The glass door is clean.

The oven door is closed and the rest can wait. Haha

I have made two more note books with my cinch. Yay.

I have made another two notebooks. Yay.

Also got rid of a load of old bobbins that don’t fit my machine.

Moved on Machine needles that are the wrong size.

Sold an industrial sewing machine - haven’t used it in six years. May one day regret it as it’s a work horse. But sooooooo happy to have the space back. (Only for £35 but it needed to go).

    Adding five to my total.

    15/ 400.

Thanks craftingmad for setting this up.
I'd like to join again this year and will try and post more (I said that last year!).
I did make 105/150 last year but will try to do 150 this year.
I am going to start to run some monthly craft classes so will try and use up my stash in those as there is so much.

I have so much papercrafting stuff that I could make something everyday and still have loads left!! I am very motivated to buy it but not so good at using it.

    Hi tigger mad

I get that. I have boxes of stuff to use. Masses of papers and things to use up. I like to save it all for best and then never use it up. This is the focus. I’m even being harsh and trying to then use up the things I make. It’s great to make journals and note pads or cards but then they need to get used up too or at least leave the house for some reason.

I’ve stopped using pads etc from work and have been taking in my stash.

Hope you’ve all been crafty and busy.

Its great to see more people joining in and I'm loving reading all your progress.

I'm now up to 36 items made towards my what now seems impossible target

These include lots more sticker sheets and a photo collage picture frame I've completed just for me

Slowly my total is starting to move and the stash will go down (it may be 2040 but it will go down)

Hi - looking to join. I have loads of on the go projects that need finishing before I embark on anything else. Currently doing a wedding cake which has a deadline! The rest is paper craft or sewing so seems to slip.

Well done for using them up.

My focus at the moment is we are moving things around in our kitchen, filling, sanding and painting so paper craft has taken a back seat again!

I would like to join in please. I scrapbook, patchwork, knit and crochet and this year I would like to get up to date with my family/holiday photos so I can start on ones of my new great grandson. My patchwork is all hand sewn and I have 2 quilts on the go so they won't be finished anytime soon. I have just finished a small crocheted blanket for charity and I have started a knitted pullover for my OH. Don't know how I can record progress though.
