Board Changes 30th Jul 13 at 12:06 PM
    Hi everyone,

We’ve read your feedback, taken it on board and thought we’d explain a bit more about our thinking around it.

You’ll notice we’ve changed the board’s name to Supermarket Coupons and it’s new home on the Food Shopping & Groceries board.

Couponing is a perfectly legal activity but not everyone is aware of how to get the most out of it hence why we launched this board.

Companies introduce coupons to encourage people to use them. Our hope is to show couponing can be an acceptable way to shop provided both consumers and businesses know and abide by the rules.
As a MoneySaving consumer site showing people how to get the most for their cash we’d be remiss not to cover it. By the same token we’re certainly not advocating couponing for couponing’s sake.

MoneySaving’s about saving money on the types of products you’d use anyway, not things that would go to waste. So using coupons to save on 25 tins of cat food with a long use-by date for example (if you have cats and would use them all) would of course be effective couponing, not greed.

    The board aim’s to:

    • Let people know the benefit of couponing and how to coupon effectively.
    • Encourage you to share your couponing stories, as some do already on the Discount Codes N Vouchers Board

    It’s not about:

    • Encouraging greed where you wouldn’t normally buy a product
    • Trying to bring an end to couponing

Hopefully this explains the idea behind the board in a bit more depth.
