@castle96 -thanks for the link -I'd been meaning to add an independent site, now that the comparison sites can leave off any supplier who doesn't pay them commission!!

EDIT -hmmmm! -just used that site and it gave me Simplicity for elec.only showing quite an annual saving against Iresa (because the Iresa Tariff would have ended in 7 months presumably) but more worryingly it showed a huge drop in monthly DD!!

Annual cost ~ £720 so should be £60pm -was showing £42 pm!!

Tried switching sites, but best site seems to be
    https://energycompare.citizensadvice.org.uk/

Thanks for this link. It certain provides better prices than the CEC site.

Looks like it's going to cost me an extra £50 pa. with Simplicity.

Octopus are going to want £200 pa. more than I was paying Iresa!

Let's hope they allow the switch quickly, I can imagine that they'll want to hang onto me as long as possible.

I was with Iresa for just on a year and found them absolutely fine - no problems whatsoever. Shame they've gone.

There are some on here ,who have "escaped" over the last 12 months or so, owing IRESA.....At least one has reported that he has never received a bill or demand for payment - HOWEVER, one suspects that the appointed administrators will prioritise those whose accounts are/were in debit!

My debit balance is much much higher than the £80 the other bloke said.
I'm hoping it disappears amid the mess that was Iresa.
I've no idea why they never raised my DD due to the high usage my household had (much much too high for my liking but .... not my choice).
Obviously I'm obligated to pay it, but it'd be nice if it gets forgotten.

Iresa were so difficult to get a hold of. They never answered the questions I asked and they took an age to validate my meter readings. They ignored my readings for several months and used "estimated" readings. Idiots. Then they double charged me for a certain amount of energy I used. That got fixed eventually.

Shame really, because I could have lived with the debit balances due to the low low cost of their energy (relative to market). Oh well. Will have to start shopping again.
I wonder if another provider will see this as an opportunity and offer an exclusive rate to entice the tens of thousands of ex-IRESA customers. Fingers crossed!!
Current Debt (excluding mortgage) - £7,020
    Reducing £450/ month.

As I get through around 7000kwh a year for leccy I'm more concerned about the cost per kwh.

    Another 8.6p a day only costs another £31.40 p/a. However the extra 3.38p/kwh x 7000 adds another £236.60 making Octopus nearly £270 p/a (£22.50/mo) more expensive.

I shall be scuttling off, probably to Enstroga who charge 22.292 per day (an extra £34.64) plus only £43.33 extra for 7000kwh making it around £78 a year more expensive than IRESA (£6.50 a month). Their only disadvantage is the £30 exit fee
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

I looked at Enstroga, but these Trustpilot reviews rather put me off.

So I'm currently considering Simplicity Rhubarb 18v02

I'm not sure I'd trust the Trustpilot reviews TBH.

I did a comparison with CEC, Moneysupermarket and Citizens Advice for Bulb. Reviews for CEC and MS are similar i.e. a high favourable percentage, whereas CA have them at 2.5/5.

I think you just have to take a balanced view after reading the reviews plus this forum.

To be honest if we all took Trustpilot at face value nobody would ever do any business with any company ever again.
