Oh Watty, sorry to hear that you are having a tough time <hugs>

I can’t offer much advice other than echoing what the others have said- I found mindfulness and positive reaffirmations (‘things will be ok’ ‘I am strong and capable’ Etc) really helped me recently. Different things work for different people but keep chatting to us and looking after yourself x
    First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!

Thanks all. It is completely clear to me that Mr Watty is in a really bad place. I can offer guidance and so on but I cannot pull him out of that hole.
I did ring former friend who is doing his counselling yesterday to make it utterly clear that she was not to charge my card again. Words failed me. I do not think she has helped him at all and I did say as much yesterday evening.
I have left on his desk two alternative options, one is a specialist working in an area I think a primary issue for him to focus on, one a local counsellor found on a site recommended by KC and checked out with a lovely friend locally who recently qualified as a counsellor and who thinks this person might be appropriate. It really is down to Mr Watty what he decides to do.
(I have also asked him to discuss medication with his GP and suggested he actually read the books his GP suggested - both of which I thought were fantastic suggestions)

Just waiting to hear if a neighbour can bring in ponies on Saturday so I can go to a party :)

I have to say I'm astounded by the kindness on this board :)

Watty, I'm sorry it's going so badly for MrW, but you're absolutely right, no one else can pull him out of that hole. Exploring options for him is the most you can do, maybe listen to him trying to work out which one is best for him if you can bear to, but maybe *not* that, you're going through so much yourself with all this.

Sorry the friend has become a former friend, too :( but it sounds like at least you've spoken your piece.

I sense a party coming up with apple :)

Mr Watty packing for his trip. I feel I have wasted my time talking to him over this week as it has achieved absolutely nothing.

He has however packed both books the GP recommended and the leaflet I got from a specialist counselling unit.

And in an effort to return to the MSE side of things I am feeling more positive that my efforts have contained the work disaster. After my initial panic, I seem to have pulled myself together enough to take action which might just contain the damage. Will be the end of Jan before I know for sure ...but with a prevailing wind this might just work out

  • Surely - that's a good sign that Mr Wattie is taking the books with him. Just hope he has the time to read them through and helps even just a little.

Hope your neighbours can take the horses in for you, so you shall go to the ball.

If you manage (and I hope you do) - have a great time.

and fingers crossed the prevailing wind helps.

I agree. I get the sense that he wouldn't have done that if you hadn't been talking to him, Watty.

And potential good news on the work issue. Hope you get the least-worst scenario there.
