  • I'm glad you are feeling better. Sometimes you just have to have a sandwich - especially when you have been unwell. It's good you are getting your appetite back.

Hurrah for new credit card. :j

  • Feeling poorly again today, am glad its Friday
    and its payday yay :j

Took the puppy for a walk this afternoon and she was good the whole time :) first time in weeks so hopefully she is now settling down. Dishwasher unloaded/ loaded & on. Hoovered downstairs.

Tomorrow is meant to be nice weather so I will be washing all day as sunday is meant to be monsoon rain and force 9 gales

Online banking checked and I will post a summary of the month tomorrow. Have checked my mortgage following the news of potential rate rises and I am on Base Mortgage Rate so may be increase in cost. I am glad that I do not have a large mortgage but will start looking at fixing if mortgage rates start to rise as my budget is tight.

Managed to persuade DS to phone his car insurance provider as he had got a cheaper quote elsewhere. They beat the quote and reduced his renewal by over £200 !!

Was fancying a takeaway for tea but I have a sweet chilli chicken pizza in the freezer and garlic bread less than £2 so I am going to have that instead.

Puppy has managed to bite a hole in one of her new toys
:rotfl: I've sewed it back up so we shall see how much longer it lasts !

My new credit card has arrived so I need to arrange to transfer the balance on my old one. Its no transfer fee/no annual fee/ 0% on purchases and transfers for 12 months. I haven't got a huge balance left after paying this months bill its about £129.

I have done my online banking this morning and I had £99.60 left at the end of the month so I have put £50 into the xmas account and £50 will be used in October when DP's come to stay for a week. It should cover diy and eating out.

My bank rewards are now total £47.52, not bad for doing nothing just paying my usual household bills ! Once they reach £50 (later this month) I am going to claim them in cash and put them in the xmas fund. Hopefully co-op will pay out a divi this year and I will get some membership vouchers usually around £5 which can also go towards xmas food. Maybe a little bit more this year as I am with them for gas/electric too. Every little helps :D

DP's are coming to stay this month and I have a week off work. We are planning to do the membrane/stones on the alleyway and I will need to pay for stones & pins to hold the membrane in place. I am going to source them today online and pay for them with my new credit card so I can spread the cost over the 12 months 0% period. I also noticed the outside tap/hose is leaking so I will look at that later as it was dark out there at 5am when I let the puppy out. I couldn't turn the tap so I think it has seized up maybe a spray of wd40 will do the trick :p

That's a great amount to have left at the end of the month Skint, well done you! Isn't payday a wonderful feeling :) Hope the WD40 does the trick, leaky taps are such a pain.....
  • Sadly wd40 didn't work and tap is seized open. It has a hose attached which is turned off so no water everywhere but it is dripping from the tap so I've put a bucket there for now until DP's come in a few weeks.

I usually put £100 a month into savings and £100 a month into an annual bills account. I didn't save as usual this month as I wasn't sure I would have enough money, especially as I decided to pay my credit card in full. Thanks to a frugal September I still managed to save almost £100. :)

Its been a showery day and I put a load of washing out but got fed up of rushing out to fetch it in when it rained so I've put it on airers to finish off. Two puppy walks done but not much else. I decided to treat myself to a Chinese for tea and am waiting for it to be delivered, crispy duck with pancakes and chicken chow mein £13.50 from my entertainment budget this month. There will be enough for 2 meals so I will have leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

DS has found a great muscle foods deal getting twice the usual amount of meat for an extra £5 so that will be delivered next week, paid for out of shopping budget.

I am sorry about the tap. What is it about houses? Yum to Chinese for tea. I am v impressed in your savings well done to son on saving money on food and to you for saving £100. You sound so organised.
Aiming for a minimal spend 2022
  • I don't feel very organised lol. I should have saved £200 in September, £100 into bills account and £100 into long term savings. I used £100 which should have gone into long term savings plus £100 out of long term savings account to pay my credit card :o and it wasn't anything special on the credit card bill, stuff for the house and dog. I really must kerb my spending.

I got a voucher from pets at home yesterday for £5 off when you spend £30 in October and November. DS will give me £31 for dog food usually £36 for a big bag so that is a really good saving.

It was warm and damp this morning when I walked the puppy. I hung some washing out when we got back and it dried by lunch time before the rain this afternoon. DS worked nights so he walked her this afternoon for the first time in ages as we have been having some problems with her and she was good as gold so he is going to be able to walk her again :)

We had roast chicken for dinner. We gave some to the puppy and she loved it. Couldn't give her any gravy as it has onion powder in it which is highly toxic to dogs. Will have to look out for some gravy powder with no onion / garlic powder or MSG. We use oxo gravy granules which DP's get for me in the wholesalers in a big tub 1.58kg for £9.99.

Back to work tomorrow... where did the weekend go? My friend text me earlier to say she is having a pamper party and I have put down for a facial and 30 minute head & neck massage for £20. Will take the money out of my entertainment budget. Sounds nice and relaxing :)
