  • Hi

Declaring £426 for this month. Bit disappointing but had large vets bill to pay and have MOT due so I have kept a bit back as the cost of that is unknown.

    #44 please for £426

    Good luck everyone
  • Well i've declared £745 for Feb, I could probably do more but I am about to change jobs so held the funds in my account rather than pushing off to ISA's etc until the first pay cheque comes in.

This has helped me fill the last bits of my LISA for 2018, and will help fully fund 2019. Among other things!

How do I get a number? my target savings is 12k this year.

Hi, just found this thread - and the idea looks great! Also seen @slowlyfading's blog and like the FIRE-style principles. Is it too late to sign up and join the game?

If I can be added, I'd like to target myself £12,000. I can't open the GoogleDocs on my work PC but can do so at home.

Savings so far since 1st Jan 2019 is about £1,700 - 100% invested in equities so +/- gains/losses/income, I can update exactly later.

Edit: By way of introduction, I'm a 24 y/o Civil Servant and a personal finance geek. I own a small two-bedroom flat and am saving for general capital gain. I've set myself an ambitious target of £800 in savings above my mortgage repayments; my goal is to achieve a better return on my investments than I would make from mortgage overpayments. I have £17k existing in a mix of different funds and stocks; took damage following "Red October" but am now back in paper profit overall. In addition I put £50pcm into a Stocks LISA as an added tax-free retirement boost, don't know if this should count but it's £600 plus 25% bonus.
  • Hi TJB and welcome aboard!

Today is my payday and I've just paid £1300 into my S&S LISA bringing my savings for the year up to £4990. I also got my first government bonus paid in yesterday (£350) but I'm choosing to record only savings contributions made by me (so ignoring the government bonus), which gives me more breathing room in terms of making a profit or loss.

Once my husband gets paid tomorrow, I'll do a payday shuffle and expect to add more to the savings pots!

No lie I have just updated my total for the 2017 challenge. I fell off the savings wagon a couple of years back although I did tally the end of year figures. I neglected to keep any control of figures in 2018 though (I got married!), but as of the start of this year I'm back on track.

There's that perennial goal of buying a house that may or may not happen this year (I'm sure I've said that every year..) but I'd still be keen to sign up to this year's challenge if that's okay. I'm going to aim for £20,019.
  • @Slowlyfading

Please add me to the 2019 challenge. I was in a couple of years ago but got lazy with updating. £12000 as a target will be a stretch for me but I need to go for it!
