Incomplete vrn entered 12th Apr 18 at 10:11 PM
Hi, this is my first post, I would appreciate some advice. I recently received a PCN through the post from a company called HX car park management stating that I had parked without a valid ticket. It supplied photos of my car entering and leaving the car park. I still had the ticket in my car confirming that I ,as an occupant of the car, had paid and not overstayed so I sent a photo of the ticket to their appeals department. They sent me an email the next day refusing my appeal saying that I had not completed the vrn and this was a breach of contract and I must pay £60 or£100. I ,as an occupant of the car, had entered the first four digits of the vrn as some car parks that I have used previously required. This information positively identified the ticket related to the car on which it was displayed. In my opinion I am being charged this excessive amount for what amounts to no more than a typing error. Both myself and my wife are oaps and this represent a significant part of our pensions. I would appreciate any advice. Many thanks

So they are using an old stock of tickets that are not fit for purpose.

Do you have to enter full VRN on Euro car park?

No, there are no requirements to enter a VRN , Just good old fashioned, ( and honest ) buy a ticket, stick it on your dash to prove that you've paid and we wont try to screw you. Guess which car park I use now. ----- just proves that there is no commercial justification for HX's money grubbing. The land owner has now, at least, lost my business. Regards,

On another matter. I'm sending my defence to Northampton tomorrow. I've read the Newbies and all the excellent advice, one thing I've missed, will the eventual DJ actually see that defence as I've laid it out, Or just my W/S. Regards.

Thought I would also add that going off a facebook group set up about this particular car park there are around 21 people with current PCN's from HX, all at varying stages on that group alone
What the FB group could do, is to give each other Witness Statements about the failures on the machines there. A big bunch of those would be very useful to the judges who tend to be local, talk to each other and do share little bits of fact.

Should close down the Gladstones machine for a while.

The DJ will see both your defence and your WS (and the evidence you supply with the WS in the file - paper copy, numbered pages & with a contents page - you supply for the court).

    Parking ticket for incomplete VRN
I too am being chased after losing my appeal with POPLA! I paid the correct amount and did not overstay but still being chased for £100 for not putting full registration in! Not sure what to do as anxious but itís so unjust!

Send the parking firm a Rectification Notice, under the GDPR.

Search the forum for rectification notice wrong VRN and copy the tactic.

    rectification notice
Always makes me think of an action - where to put something - rather than a request for a correction.

If you are a private individual rather than a company, any hearing will be at your local County Court.

Whatever, it is unlikely ever to be local to Gladstones - it would be local to the claimant (the PPC, not their solicitors) in the case of a company rather than an individual being sued.

Gladstones never turn up themselves for any hearing. They seem not to want to get too close to a Judge's questioning! Not often does a PPC turn up either!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case papers, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask.

however, as pointed out above, its the PPC who will determine their local court, so as I do not believe that there are any PPC local to Knutsford, then as mentioned, its a moot point

normally its the local court to a defendant , so go to the government gateway and put your postcode in and it will tell you

Geographically the nearest county court to me is a different postcode to mine, can I specify that court or must it be the court whose postcode I come under. Thanks.
  • archived user
Put the postcode on the claim here and it will tell you the one the automatic system will make first choice.

    https://courttribunalfinder.service.gov.uk/search/postcode

If that court is slated for closure, or if they have a specialist judge for parking, it will be the one the specialist judge is at. The only limitation on which court they will chose will be 1 hours driving time. They will though try to make it the one the search above gives you.

I wonder if G;adstones would welcome a case at their local CC. Some of the judges may be familiar with their mo.
