Oops, had a step backwards with a delivery of stuff someone wanted to get rid of when clearing their house. Lots of nice stuff but not much I want happily. Anything not of use will be going into several piles e.g. Chucrch fair Pile (always got that on the go for MiL), CS pile, Allotment, gifting and then keep. Some of the ornaments are damaged and I have had to chuck them but no CS wants broken ornaments. So that is 8 bags in :(

    Wow!
Everyone has been so busy. And isn't it great to so many people joining us?Nice busy thread :j
My house is such a mess at the moment.I normally send the family out every Sunday so I can blitz the house,so it stays under control.Bit for the last few weeks,I haven't been getting alot done on the weeknds.Aaaaand ,my vacuum cleaner is broken.Golly, doesn't not being able to vacuum for the last 3 weeks make a difference :(.And it is school holidays,so 4 kids are home,in/out,making messes..........
I am supposed to be picking the place up a bit today, but there will be lots of interrruptions with picking up/dropping off children,so not very productive.Sigh.
I have just got back from the charity shop,so at least I have some numbers to add to my list:
441-530:bag of 89 rags for textile recycling

Stuff that 11yo daughter has given for donation after having a sort out:

545:sticky tape dispenser (which she had asked grandma for,for her birthday a couple of years ago :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:)
546:snow globe that you can put a couple of photos in

    Also donated :

Thank you both Mrs Salad Dodger and edwink. it does sound quite brutal but to be honest they are pretty much all clothes i have not worn for a long time, if anything it probably highlights how much of a hoarder i am that i can easily get rid of that many clothes without really noticing. lol

    Only a few more to add on today but means i hit my first milestone of 100:);
97-100 - Clothes i no longer wear given to my Mum

Tonight's mission after a busy day of chores is to sit and read through some of the many magazines i have which i have never got round to reading so i can then throw them out.

  • Decluttering of 9yo's belongings. When my kids, especially when they are younger, get birthday and Christmas presents,I round them up into a plastic box and keep them downstairs, because I find once they are packed away in their bedroom, toys don't get played with as much.So until today,9yo DD still had a CHristmas box in the kitchen, and a birthday box (from 3 weeks ago). But to make room for things in bedroom, she needed to declutter.
And my 11yo (who shares bedroom with her),is always up for a bit of decluttering,so she let go of a few things too :T.
    Out of the house today:

    Recycled:
549:bottle of extremely cheap perfume, poured down sink and bottle recycled
    550:magic picture and colour book
    551:Squinkies book
    552-554:3 party hats

    Binned:
    555:a gazillion-and-plenty marking pens
    556:a shell
    557:packet of pencils
    558:plastic foolscap document file
    559-564:assorted hairbands and clips
    565-566:2 small pairs of scissors
    567:plastic pots of kid's paints
568-569:large bag of assorted kipple.Probably worth more than "2" in the count, but that is ok
570-571:bundle of papers sorted through over the week, out for recycling.(I count "1" for ech inch deep of paper. Was actually 2.5 inches deep, but I am not going to star counting in halves .

414 one broken bread machine taken to the tip.

I could do with several more hours in the day, please!

February has been a bit busy, and the house is a tip, and desperately needs cleaning as well as decluttering.

    Tiny steps being made...

415 chair finally sold on eBay and was collected Saturday
416 old bag of flour found in the depths of a cupboard
    417 three old fridge magnets
    420 old pair of shoes

  • Hi there. Can I join in too? Hubby and I are are both hoarders and we have a 5 year old so there's just too much stuff in our house. I've started this a few times and then just not had the time but finally I've got some time as I'm out of work for a few months.

I made a start and have taken about 6 carrier bags full of books and jigsaws to the cs and I recycled all my food magazines which I'd been keeping in case I ever wanted to use any recipes from them. Needless to say I never use any recipes from them!
