Variable speed cameras m25

I was on the M25 last night at I think it was st albans maybe a bit further back the limit was at 40 ok fair enough slow down went through it no problems cracked on to the next gantry but this one and the other two gantry's after that didn't have a speed on them or they were just switched off blank (and I didn't see any flashes forgot to add) but then got down to the fifth one and it had the national speed limit sign on it I know I'm probly just being paranoid but am I going to get an nip and points or am I safe and if I do can I argue that there wasn't a speed displayed on them

Thanks

  • Another thing as well all the cars and lorry's round me were going a lot faster than me through the other gantries than I was and they didn't seem that bothered and there weren't any flashes for them either

You'll just have to sweat it out and see if anything arrives in the post. The speed of other traffic is no defence, Are your address details up to date? You wouldn't want a letter going to an old address and any problems escalating because you're not responding.

In the absence of any new speed limit information being displayed on the motorway, the last displayed speed applies, so you should have remained at 40mph until the NSL was shown.
  • I just had a speeding ticket sent through for doing 73 mph between junction 14 and 15 they say speed was set at 60 didn't notice this on the gantry I wasn't even in the outside lane

Do they have different limits for different lanes, then?

Is there a question in there or was this just a random comment?

They shouldn't do and this is something probably worth going to http://forums.pepipoo.com/ for.

On the 6 lane sections like near Heathrow T5 exit it is not unusual for lanes 3 to 6 to be 50 or 60 but lanes 1 and 2 to be 40 because that is where the queuing traffic is.
