So sorry to hear about the rates rise Bob. Obviously appeal as everyone has already said. Decisions are really hard in SE, and there is no obvious answer. You just have to believe in yourself, you have amazing courage and you work so hard for your family. Sometimes it does feel like it is for nothing. You'll do whatever is right for you Bob, that I'm sure of:)
all good wishes coming your way

Thanks NOA. It all just seems so random. Another business in a better location than mine in the same area was tweeting about their increase yesterday but saying they'd only be liable for £2k of it! Whereas for me I seem to have very low relief. The trouble is the unit I'm in is in a very residential area and I think the landlord has always had trouble filling it. So why should my rates be so high when footfall and all the other useful commercial factors are so poor? As it goes the business I'm now running isn't footfall dependant, but the price is way too high. I will fight them on the beaches I've decided! Grrrrrr!!!

Thanks Fox. Bit. It comes and goes in waves. I am in management mode on our home finances now, counting down the days till payday, thinking how well we've done this month. But each day that passes and I'm not taking a booking to help with next month's impending
s h i t storm is pushing up the anxiety factor. Double edged sword.

For now I'm going to focus on this beautiful day, get my bedding stripped and on the line, and enjoy playing with DD in the garden.

Hi Bob, I very rarely post on here but your diary deserves a mention. You are such a hard working person and you take on board everything that is flung at you with good humour and pragmatism. The example you are setting for your children is exemplary, very few people of your age would consider the sort of school run you do plus all the walking and cycling. A true inspiration. Should you have to eventually get a different sort of job I am sure you will be snapped up, you have skills that many companies do not often see these days.
I hope the business rates can be sorted out and you can continue doing what you are doing now, what you have achieved in a short while takes guts and determination, of which you have plenty.
You are an asset to your family, so enjoy your time with them. Imagine you are the fittest family in your area! Good luck with whatever life decides to throw at you.
