I wasn't going to post on this thread again but have to say it is the simple lack of commonsense as much as anything else that is sad - codes have been posted on both threads for over 4 years without any issues, people who use the main thread can get the codes without needing to go elsewhere and those who want codes without anything else could subscribe to the code thread - how did that cause a problem to anybody?
If someone didn't want to post the code on both threads I am pretty sure someone else would add the missing one so there was no pressure to post twice on anyone (I had been using the main thread for sometime before another post made me aware of the code thread).

Given the importance of the first post for users of the current style forum simply locking the old thread instead of leaving it for a new one to be started in an orderly manner at the beginning of the year seems less than helpful as well.

one question please if I may. I have just received a 10 pound mastercard code. is it possible to put that code into my Amazon account. and if so how? also what is a Mastercard wallet.
I Wish now I had waited to get the extra Swagbucks to get a voucher
    Many Thanks in advance

You need to apply it to your Amazon account by topping up your gift card balance having added the new card as a new payment method. No idea what the wallet is.
Couple of points when adding a new payment card to Amazon they verify the card by 'borrowing' £1 from the card balance, so you won't initially be able to pay in the full £10, only £9. They are supposed to return the £1 in 10 working days. Mine just took 26 days total, maybe they're busy!
Amazon changes things so finding the top up your giftcard link can sometimes be a bit of a journey!
Edit: BTW initially you need to follow the links for the Mastercard code to create a virtual mastercard, they offer the option of a real plastic one but it costs £5! It's easier than it sounds.
  • So are we allowed to post on here that there is a code on there? If so isn't it just simpler to actually type the code here as well? Genuinely don't understand why MSE is getting all Big Brother over this. Also MSE if you are going to give me a "yellow card" then you need to tell me what for and find a betetr threat than a "red card" that means I can't post for 2 whole weeks.

Me too Karmacat. I'm relatively new to the Swagbucks thread and was shocked at the attitude of the BG's. A BG has caused great upset on a thread which was working perfectly well by his 'high-handedness' (your words but they fit precisely). Complaints have been made and the BG's response is to close that thread and tell 'someone' to open a new thread. It brings ill feeling to an otherwise happy community and I'm pretty sure that Martin himself would not agree with their approach to this matter. I feel very sad about this :(

Just for a point of clarification , the original threads were closed by MSE Tine who is a member of staff working for MSE and not a board guide.

Having re-read MSE Tine's post, that's most definitely a deciding factor for the future, I'm glad that that's clear. This happens to be a big day for me on a personal level, a stepping back will be in order.

One thing that's really off-putting about any forum is mods/admins who seem to like to have something to do.

This decision was obviously made by people who aren't regular followers of these threads, so aren't aware of how much it benefits many people to have the choice of thread for the codes. As mjm says, it's about common sense. The vast majority are happy with them in both, so there's no need to change it.

And I totally agree with Molly that mods/admins (whatever you want to call them) being lenient and only acting when absolutely necessary is the best way to ensure an enjoyable forum.
  • Ok so forgive me for bewing dim, Is someone watching this thread 24/7 for every time a 'redeem in swagbutton' word comes up? or is it only the "odous" (fish-e ) word that triggers it?
