Chimney Breast Removal

Options
Hi
We are in the process of buying a new house and would like to remove the chimney breast before we move in.

The house is a semi detached house so the party wall act applies How do we go about this to ensure we can get the builders to remove the chimney breast as soon as we have the keys?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

By not picking up the keys until several weeks after you've bought the house?

You'll need to notify the neighbours. Allow time to appoint the party wall surveyor. Get a structural engineer to work out what needs doing. Get it all agreed with Building Control. Find the builder to do it. Pay the builder to do it. Get it signed off by the surveyor and the council.

There's a lot of organising to do before the work even starts.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
