Is this normal - PIP renewal

Hi everyone.

Severely disabled brother has been on PIP since 2014 - the first time he went on it, he had a paper-based assessment and was never seen in person, was put on enhanced rate daily living, no mobility. He was coming up for renewal in 2019 so they started it now and this time he was asked to be seen F2F which happened at home on April 11. He still hasn't heard anything about the outcome - we were told maximum 8 weeks... which has now passed - does this seem like anything has gone wrong? Does length of time indicate good or bad news or anything like that? We know someone who had their f2f more recently who has already had their outcome? Do these tend to go missing or anything?

Starting to get a bit worried and he is unable to use the phone.

Meant to add - he has had two texts about 4 weeks apart both the same saying we have received your written medical report, thanks for your patience or something like that.

There's no timescales for decisions, it depends on backlog in your area. Some wait 2 weeks, while others wait much longer. Has he rang DWP for a copy of the assessment report? this will give him some idea what the decision is likely to be as they mostly go with that report. If he hasn't got a copy then ask him to ring DWP PIP Monday morning and they'll send it to him. At the same time he can ask if a decision's been made. If it has they'll tell him.

As he's unable to use the phone then he should have an appointee and they can ring on his behalf.
