This is the deal that caught my eye.
I have not rented a car for probably 20 years so I am unsure of the best way to do it, but trying to avoid a huge deposit is pretty crucial.
Thanks for the help...
Apparently, as a new user I cannot post links, how annoying! How many posts do I need to allow me to post the link?

Even if you could post the link, I doubt it would work on another's computer.
But you can post links by removing the first part of it. e.g. expertreviews.co.uk/laptops/1403981/dell-inspiron-15-5000-5558-review
Removing http://www.
Otherwise you can just name the company(actual car rental company, not the broker) rental dates and the price offered.
Whilst you are working on that, you can take a look at http://bmetcarhire.com to see if it fits your needs. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g187438-i333-k6682301-o70-Bmet_car_hire_Anybody_used_them-Malaga_Costa_del_Sol_Province_of_Malaga_Andalucia.html0 -
rentalcars.com/DriverExtras.do?showdeexp=1
This is the link
The company is Record and we found it through Rentalcars.com
Thanks for your links I will have a look through them, the holiday isn't until June 2018 so plenty of time
Cheers,

Btw RecordGo cars have their brand stickered prominently on them, letting everyone know you're driving a hired car.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

This is what I see: https://web.rentalcars.com/DriverExtras.do?showdeexp=1
Though not an issue, as I can still advise.
So with RecordGo their excess waiver will be 20€ per day next June for their cheapest car.
The protection offered on RentalCars will not absolve you of the need to block an excess on your credit card.
You have to purchase it directly from RecordGo.
Plus they'll catch you out with another 30€ charge for their full/full fuel policy.
Not looking that good now eh?
Is it difficult for you to organise to have credit available on a credit card?0 -
Sorry the link didn't work.
As I understand it then, if I were to pay 20Euros per day I would not need the 1400Euro deposit. If this is the case and I don't have facility to leave a huge deposit that would solve the problem.
The 30Euro charge is payable either way.
180Euros is more affordable than 1400Euros if I am struggling to raise that amount.0 -

You don't actually have to pay 1400€. So no need to raise any amount.
All you need to have is that amount of a credit limit on a credit card. Has to be a credit card, not a debit card.
They just take an authorisation for it. Like a reservation. But they don't actually take anything from your card, unless you damage the car etc
If you do have an incident, you collect all damage invoices from the car hire company(RecordGo in this case) and present them to your insurer for reimbursement.
So, much ado about nothing.
Standalone car hire excess insurance is just a couple of pounds per day or less.
Example: https://www.bettersafe.com/Products/Car-Hire-Excess-Insurance-Protection
But there are a lot of options out there: https://www.moneymaxim.co.uk/comparisons/car-hire-insurance
But, (and this is a very important but) don't use the likes of GoldCar and RecordGo.
Use a reputable company like Hertz and AVIS and just buy the standalone car hire excess insurance shown above.
A reputable company will just request that amount on your card, but not actually complete the transaction unless you have an incident. Imagine it like you giving them a cheque, but them not actually cashing it unless you have an accident. Then if you do, they take the money from the cheque and give you an invoice for the damage and you claim it back from the insurer.
But some dodgy Spanish companies will actually take the money from your card. So don't use them.0 -
Ok, thanks for all your help0

Hi there,
I'm hoping someone can help. I've booked a car for the first time, and am still trying to get my head around the jargon.
My policy is with Europcar and includes:
Reservation Price includes
• CDW Liability / excess: GBP 779.00 excluding tax
• T(H)W Liability / excess: GBP 779.00 excluding tax
I know I need to take excess insurance out.
Will an excess insurance also cover me for the TW liability (theft liability)?Or will I need another one?
What about if there is an accident and it is my fault, so I have to pay for the damage to the other car. Will I still have to pay the excess on that? Reading the Ts&Cs of some of the excess insurance contracts they seem to be only talking about covering all damage to the hire car.
I'd appreciate any help, I've spend hours reading around this and still I'm not sure!
Thanks!0 -

Eample covers all to do with the rental car.

Third Party Liability(causing damage to someone else) insurance is something else and possibly already included in your contract with Europcar0
