Where to buy resistance bands

Has anyone bought resistance bands before and could they recommend a particular product and provide a link please,I can't afford to join a gym.I'm a 46 yr old man who is a carer at home and would like some bands to tone me up at home as I can't leave the house for long, but I haven't got a clue where to start looking and I don't want something that breaks after half an hour

I saw some in the range the other day, if you have one nearby.

Why don't you buy some Fitness DVDs and use them.
I love The Firm - the Old Firm - they really work. You do a mixture of cardio and weights.
Denise Austin 2 and 3 week boot camp is also really good.
Once you have mastered them, you could move on to kettle bells.
Alternatively, you could use youtube, some really good fitness exercises on their.

I'd recommend going for the tube types with clips on each end. They usually come with hand grips, ankle straps and a door anchor. Good for a lot of different exercises without leaving your home.

As far as brand goes, one of the most respected brands is "Bodylastics" but they're not cheap. I bought a cheaper set (some small brand that has since disappeared) a few years ago to help with injury rehab but I still get use out of them for other things. The best bet is to visit Amazon and have a good look through the reviews for the various options, especially the 1 star reviews as this will give you an idea of whether they're prone to breaking. Note that I'm not necessarily saying you should buy on Amazon, but at least use Amazon for research.

    These might be nearby:

    Sports Direct
    Decathlon

You might want a foam roller too.
  • I had mine following rotar cuff surgery. I replaced them from Amazon. Can,t remember make but had excellent reviews and were fairly inexpensive. Read the descriptions to decide what level you want to start at. I love mine

I bought my newest one from Decathlon, but in the past have had them from Strength Shop. Most of the decent online retailers do them as well (Fitness Superstore, Powerhouse Fitness etc).
  • I found it very difficult to find my resistance bands as well. However, I do find looking on Amazon is a great way to find good quality resistance bands.

Hope this helps in your search!
