Redundancy Pay

Options
Hello everyone
My son has recently been made redundant after some 12 years. He has received a block payment through his bank but doesn't have a clue what was included is the company supposed to give details of what the payment is related to as he knows there should be holiday pay included.

Thank you
Sue

Well he can work out his holiday pay.

He would have got 12xweeks pay (tax free most likely) + probably his last month's wages.

So just start dividing it up.

its not that simple , as it is half a weeks pay per year up unil 22 nd birthday
I week per week up until 41st birthday
1.5 weeks pay per year after 41st birthday
and weekly pay is capped at £508 per week
However his employer may have a better plan in place
Then of courses there may be PILON , and holiday pay on top
So , no it isnt easy to calculate

OP he should have been given a breakdown of what he would be paid and when

As above I would expect the employer to give some kind of paperwork as to what has been paid - Has he contated them about this?

There is a redundancy calculator to work out the legal minimum on the .gov website at - https://www.gov.uk/calculate-your-redundancy-pay

You can work out what you think you should get for each component using statutory.

If more than that start with full pay for redundancy and see if that fits.

There should have been a breakdown during the consultation or the redundancy notice.

Thank you everyone who answered I can see this is a bit of a minefield as to how much you get but we really need to see paperwork which I will get him to put in for.
