I just. It iced on my statement that I had a £12 overlimit charge, I thought my credit limit on my card was higher than it was:(

I have now paid in enough to bring me back under my limit.

But I thought I was on track to raise my limit soon, I’m worried that this will affect my credit increase?

Will this affect my credit limit going higher?

What is the best way to increase the amount they will lend me? Is it to pay off larger amounts every month? What else can I do to increase the amount they will lend me?

It could affect all of your credit applications not just with your current lender. But unlikely unless you make a habit of it. If the lender decides to inform a CRA of the over-limit and they may or may not, it will go into the history of the account and will then be visible to all lenders.

I have paid off half my balance but still no increase in my limit.

How can I increase my credit allowance?

Keep clearing the balance. Make sure your credit file is squeaky clean.

Thanks, I guess I will have to pay it all off to get an increase

You have to that month after month. Just keep paying as much as you can every month...and you'll more than likely be offered an increase. Try and get to the point where you are paying the full balance due. :)
