Although this particular story may be a bit "tall", there is no doubt that people do get mugged after they have been watched using a cashpoint.
I'm sure that it almost happened to me once when I used a cashpoint in Kings Cross, and afterwards somebody came up beside me and started trying to talk to me.
"Shoulder surfing" is also a real phenomenon, where somebody will try to see your PIN as you type it in, and then afterwards mug you or otherwise trick you to get the card from you.0 -
It makes a change, no xenophobic undertones to the 'story' on this occasion.0

I dont bother with all the fiddly last bit.
Once i've shoulder surfed the pin i just grab the whole handbag and run off
It breaks up my usual week of drugging people, stealing their kidneys, and leaving them in hotel rooms in bathtubs of ice
