HI guys,

Need some help to sanity check this quote.

If anyone with any experience and can tell if this is a fair quote it would be greatly appreciated.

Discounts are 75% on units 80% on panels cornice 65%w/tops and sink and 80% on appliances. (these discounts weren't on the quote but was told these have been applied????)

So its a good job the discounts have been applied, otherwise your kitchen would be about £48,000

Very realistic (not). The installer is going to make a couple of grand on this one, no way is any of that discounted. Look at each individual price, compare your tap to the same one in Toolstation - at a guess I'd say £100 cheaper at TS.
  • 80% of the price they've decided to charge you. I bet someone else would get 80% off a different price

I buy around 16 kitchens a year from Howdens.

I say this to all customers: Don't buy your appliances from Howdens. They ate just not competitive. Go to someone like AO.com. Better choice and better prices. Also, all of the following get from Screwfix. Much much cheaper.

    1 APL2806 Flexible Ducting Kit 125mm 14.20
    1 PLU6002 Space Saving Plumbing Kit 1.5 and 2.0 Bowl Sinks, 2 x 23.40Appliance Trap

Get the sink elsewhere - again much cheaper.

You need to push them down on price as well. There is more to come off of that, although the Glendevon is one of the more expensive ranges.

    Thanks.

As you purchase so many from Howdens have you got a rough amount I should be aiming for on items like worktop and units?

    For example

1 GLE5251 Glendevon White 800 CC Hi-Line Base White Cab
    266.7 including VAT.

    What should that be?

Everything else it looks like I'll source on my own.

I really detest Howden's business/pricing model and wouldn't even go there because of it, no matter how nice their kitchens are.

    Quick update.

Got a quote back from DIY kitchens. Seems loads cheaper.

The thing is I am not experienced enough to pick everything and make sure it is all there and fits. Would be happy to pay someone to do this all for me as the savings are enormous. Indenpendant kitchen designer?

    Any tips?

I had the same concern. Don't worry to much about it. First, measure your room. The most important measurements are the walls where your units are going so looking at your design - two walls. Go to planner dot diy-kitchens dot com and start putting your measurements in and then put your units on the planner. The planner will help you work out what plinths, cornice and pelmet you need. Looking at your unit type I'm not sure you need cornice and pelmets? Think about your end panels. Again DIY Kitchens can help you with this.

My advice get it delivered two weeks before your kitchen install date. Once delivered check it over. If you find damages report them and you will get the issues resolved before your installation. It's a bit of a pain but the plus point is that your installer doesn't have to wait for Howdens to sort out missing items/damages.

DIY Kitchens are fantastic. You will get a cheaper kitchen and better quality than Howdens.

    thanks for the help.

I got some sort of kitchen on their planner now.

    Please see below.

Working out about 3k cheaper than howdens just on units although only 1k cheaper than Wren which is surprising.
  • Okay you may have already done this. Check your hinges - whether a unit should open left or right. For all your units change the options so no filler or end panels are selected and then select the units which will need end panels. I see your oven unit will need an end panel on the left. What others do you need?
