    Just got back last week
Eats (all off strip - mainly Rampart / Tivoli area ) and are evening only, Breakfast / lunch were in the apartment

    Cheesecake factory
    Applebees
    Outback
    Black Bear
    M Resort buffet
Main Street Station Buffet (Very poor)

We had a 3 day trip out to Kings Canyon / Sequoia staying in Clovis where we ate at Dennys (poor) / IHOP (very nice)

The only bad experience was the new pay at table machines coming in, our server at Applebees brought the food then started telling us how to pay on the machine including all the tip options - let us eat it first please !! she then kept coming back about 3 times whilst we were eating to make sure we knew what to do. It was only one time, maybe she was due to go off shift
Only went to Main Street Station about 14 years ago, when it was recommended, and it was awful so never went back.

I haven't seen Pay at the Table yet, but have mixed views on the "suggested tip" at the bottom of the check. On one hand it can be useful for first timers or when you have just arrived and the mental arithmetic is a bit rusty. On the other, I don't like being "told" what to tip, even though I'm going to tip more than the minimum on there. What I won't do is tip on the total INCLUDING tax, which most places seem to calculate it on.

There was a shift change almost as soon as we arrived at the Aria buffet and the first server was pleasant when she took our drinks order. I actually thought we were sitting in another server's section when her replacement came on as she never came near our table once, yet was never away from the tables around us.

The pay at table machines were in both Applebees and Outback and its a small tablet type machine on your table which also doubles up as a games machine to amuse children but beware it is $1 per game and it does not need authorisation, just tap to play (Kathy looked at a game and it added $1 to the bill) so kids could run up quite an amount.
When you are ready you just select the pay tab and your bill is shown, put card in and pin number and it comes up with the tip "page" 20% is auto selected but you can change if you want to.

Agree with MSS - we were told it was great on several boards but it was very poor, never again. The only buffet we go to is M resort which we have always liked and if you avoid seafood days is quite reasonable price wise and free beer / wine (ex tip)

Ladies and Gents, its our first time in Vegas although not our first time in the USA and we want a good steak, my husband is particularly smitten with a prime rib. Anyone got any suggestions as to where we can find such a beast?

    Thanks in advance.

I knew that reminded me of something, but it was a store, not a restaurant.

As soon as we set foot in one store and I started looking at handbags, an assistant was right on me. She started off asking what I was looking for so I said I was just looking. Then she explained the BOGO half price offer just in case I didn't understand it. (Hello, we had just come from The North Face where I had to tell the girl at the till she had made a mistake, after mentally taking 40, 50 and 60% off the various items we bought, made sure they were over the threshold to be able to use a coupon, deducted the coupon % and added the tax). Obviously I didn't say that. And on it went until I firmly told her that I did not require assistance at this time, but I would be sure to ask her if there was anything I did need assistance with.

That's shocking if there is nothing to warn you that the games are chargeable. What happens if there is more than one child at a table, do they get a second tablet or have to share? I know nothing about kids and online games, but seem to recall that something was done a couple of years ago to prevent kids being able to make In App purchases.

Although we didn't make it to an Outback this trip, I seem to remember there being a menu on a tablet last year, but not Pay at the Table. Gordon Ramsay Steak also had a tablet on the table for placing your order.

Personally I think I would have disputed it on principal if there was no warning, regardless of the amount. I disputed a tiny "Wait Time" fee with Uber. It was absolutely nothing to do with the value and everything to do with being falsely charged. I have never once called an Uber or Lyft without being at the pick up location first so it was impossible for the driver to have had to wait.

There are so many options for a good steak restaurant in Vegas, almost every hotel on the strip has a steak restaurant.

For downtown I recommend Hugo's Cellar at Four Queens (http://hugoscellar.com/). On the strip Bavette's at Park MGM is very good (http://bavettessteakhouse.com/las-vegas/).

    Have a good time!

I got suckered into that play games thing as well in Olive Garden. Nowhere does it say you will be charged for it. I was playing quizzes with customers from other tables. I bet none of them knew they were being charged either.
We like M Resort buffet as well, I’ve been banging on about it for years, it’s the only one we go to.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Yes stay off the strip if you want a good steak but not the pretentiousness.

Lowery’s prime rib on E. Flamingo

Didn't Circus Circus, (although now classed as a casino that is a bit of a dump - but seems to like me), have a highly rated steak house at one point?
Can't remember the name of it, but I'm sure it was mentioned on here a couple of years ago as a great place to get a decent, and reasonably priced steak?

Indeed their steak restaurant is considered one of the best on the Strip but whether it is reasonably priced is a mute point.
If price is an issue I would go further down the strip to Fremont - all the old hotels there will have a steak house.
