Both BA and Virgin have launched worldwide sales for bookings made by 20 July. Return journeys from London to New York start at £327, Miami £392 and Dubai £357, plus many more, including most taxes & charges.
Amex customers can grab an extra £35 off sale prices (see below).

Amex customers can get £35 off £200+ flights using a special code at flight broker Opodo*, until 31 August. Opodo includes most flights, so this works with some BA and Virgin sale flights. You can fly any date.
As an example, we found an Virgin London-New York return for £350 on Opodo. Take off the £35, and the total cost was £315 inc. most taxes and charges.
How to book
Once you've found the flight you want on Kayak or another comparison site, go to Opodo* and search for the same flight, checking it doesn't cost more than £35 more
Enter the code AMEXFLY in the promo codes box to take off £35 flights over £200 when you pay by Amex. The discount is valid against each booking, not per person. Read full offer details.
Anything to watch out for?
Pay by credit card, including Amex, and Opodo charges a 2% fee. Plus do also check the terms and conditions when booking flights, cheaper deals tend to lack flexibility and individual brokers can have their own terms.
Always pop the flight in your basket to check, as then it'll include the 'booking fee' Opodo sometimes adds (it clearly says if there is one).

* Using these links helps the site stay ad-free and free to use, as they’re ‘affiliated links’ which invisibly take you via price comparison services like Moneysupermarket or affiliate sites, this then means if you end up getting a product this site gets revenue
You shouldn’t notice any difference, the links don’t impact the product at all and the editorial line (the things we write) is NEVER impacted by the revenue. If it isn’t possible to get an affiliate link for the best product, its still listed in the same way. The following links Kayak and Travelsupermarket are identical unaffiliated links provided for the sake of transparency. Click on the following link for more details on how this site's financed.

Travel is for various dates Sept '10 - 31 March '11, excluding Xmas. Dates vary according to destination; check the individual sales websites for details. Currently availability is vast.

If you fancy going away to a certain destination on specific dates, don't bother looking at this sale direct, as the results are included in the cheap flight screenscrapers Kayak* and Travelsupermarket*.

Take care with fares. I checked on 1 July for fares from Manchester to Orlando. In the sale, those fares are 49 pence cheaper!! Some sale!0
