Changes to 08, 09 and 118 calls from mobiles on 1 July 2015
Options
Big changes are coming to 08, 09 and 118 call pricing on 1 July 2015.
That's just two months away.
Except for Lyca Mobile, all of the mobile providers mentioned by Ofcom on their page at http://www.ukcalling.info/about now have a page online with details of the changes.

Ofcom's radio advert:

I am aware that, on 1st July 2015, the rules change in how business advertise their non-geographic telephone numbers for customers calling.
Does anyone know if this will cover all letters that businesses write to customers (whether ongoing or new business?), and does it mean literally EVERYTHING has to be changed by the 1st July deadline?
Thanks,
K0 -
That's good news. 0800 free now.0

Everything has to be changed.
There's a list of examples about three-quarters of the way down this page:
http://www.ukcalling.info/industry
Businesses must justify and declare the Service Charge for their 084, 087 or 09 number, else change their number to stop imposing this charge. Ofcom made matching 034 and 037 numbers available in 2007 for those who wish to migrate to 03 from an 084 or 087 number.0 -
From 1 July, Ofcom regulatory changes mean that calls to 080 numbers will be free from mobiles. As part of this, the cost of calling other numbers starting with 08, 09 and 118 will change. To see how these costs are calculated visit vdfn.co/ukcalling1
Can I cancel Vodafone since they are changing prices in addition to 0800 numbers?0 -
On Vodafone, calls to 0843, 0844, 0871, 0872, 0873, 118 are going down.
Calls to 0845, 0870 are going up.0 -

No, because regulatory changes are exempt.
Also it's interesting how much the access charge will vary....
Vodafone are quoting 23p a minute. Another major UK mobile network are quoting 44p a minute!!:eek:I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -

Yes it does and If you dont you might face penalties.
" What happens if I don’t include this information on everything from the day the changes come into force? Will there be penalties?
PhonepayPlus and the Advertising Standards Authority will be responsible for enforcing the requirements for including service charge information in advertising. More information about their penalties for non-compliance is available on their websites (and the website of the ASA’s sister body the Committee of Advertising Practice – https://www.cap.org.uk)
Broadcasters must abide by Ofcom's Broadcasting Code, or face potential penalties. The Code is currently being updated to reflect the requirement to explain the service charge."
See: http://www.ukcalling.info/industry/business-faqs0 -
The new Broadcast Code was published by Ofcom at the end of April 2015.
This gives programme makers plenty of time to incorporate the new messaging.0
