Sorry, I don't know where you can get this stuff. I tried myself at our local haberdashery, but they'd never even heard of it. I'm sure it IS called THE WELT, and that the shop IS called a haberdashery, but I'm feeling old and no-one seems to use the proper words any more! I can only suggest you either go and live in a big city where all is available! Or look online for suppliers.
Good luck, and sorry not to be more helpful, it is disappointing that what seems simple to use is not easy to buy.0 -
I'm sure someone somewhere calls it the welt, as I did 'O' Level needlework way back in the '70s and it was called the welt then! I'm not just making funny words up. Anyway, maybe using this word may make suppliers appear on online enquiries.0

Does anyone anywhere know where I can get good quality, robust needle threaders? The only ones I ever seem to see in the UK are very flimsy "foil disc and fuse-wire" affairs.
On American YouTube videos I've seen the people using what look like extremely well-made and long-lasting devices, but looking and asking around here draws a blank look, from people who seem to wonder who I think I am, wanting such quality products!
I'd really appreciate some pointers, Thanks.0 -
For the original query, Amazon. Search for ribbing.
For the needle threader query ... Amazon again. Huge range on there.0 -
Plenty of this on ebay. Try https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Marbet-Knit-Rib-Tubular-Cuffing-Cuffs-Replacement-Pack-of-2-Made-in-Italy/253247374468?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D49131%26meid%3D70991fc969fc4bd289e5789f2003137f%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D231025545014&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
If that isn't suitable, there are other sellers listed on that page selling similar items.0 -

Thank you, I will try Amazon. I think I'll have to stick to Amazon UK though because of money exchanges. Here's hoping.0
