Savings / Investment for 6 months

Hi all,
My partner and I each have savings (£3k for myself, which should rise by roughly £400 per month; £6,500 for my partner, which should again rise by roughly £400 per month). We’re looking to get some return from this as currently the money is just sitting in current accounts and gaining no interest.
However, I currently have a perm visa application in process for Australia, and we would be looking to move (and utilise the money) in mid October this year.
I’ve looked at RBS’s easy access accounts and the interest isn’t even worth the hassle of setting them up; I’ve looked into the Chip app with moneysaving’s 3% interest code, but can’t make a lump sum deposit (max £600 per month); and looked into Moneybox, but concerned about some reviews I’ve read about withdrawing your money, which would be a nightmare as we need the money for a specific date for Australia migration.
Have you any recommendations on how we can get some return on this money but still have easy access to it? Not looking for anything high risk / reward, but medium / low and even just a few percentage points on the money would be good. Open to both savings accounts and maybe investment (but I have little knowledge on this). Also open to people telling me nothing is worth it for the money we have and the migration situation and just leave it in a current account!
Thanks

Best thing would be to read the articles linked further up the page, labelled 'top savings accounts' and 'how to start saving'. Forget anything to do with investment over such a short period of time....0
