Stuck with complex meter

I was wondering if anyone could help me get my complex meter changed to an ordinary one without paying out for an expensive electrician.

I live in a one bedroomed flat and am supplied electricity by Npower by virtue of an E7 complex meter with 2 MPANS. I have had nothing but trouble with them and am sure I have been overpaying.

Whenever I try to switch energy providers I am not accepted because of my meter type.

Unfortunately trying to get the meter changed has been another nightmare as Npower states that my landlord must get an electrician to check that the meter can be swapped, as I live in a multi occupied property, and the landlord refuses to do this so I am stuck. Can anyone help please?.

With 2 MPANs it wont be E7 it will be some other form of 2-rate metering. The issue is that some applicances could be wired into a seperate curcuit that is only active part of the day. That is why the wiring needs to be checked otherwise you'll be the 1st to complain when they stop working.

If you want to find out if you are paying over the top, use your total consumption (all registers) for the last year and put that into a switching site on a 24/7 tariff. That would be the least you would pay.

I assume the electricity is not included in your rent.
Whose name is the electricity supply in? Yours? Your landlord's?
In an HMO it is unlikely to be yours.......
