    Thanks Wish:A. Making the most of them as my income is going to be significantly down for a couple of months. Makes you realise how important an emergency fund is though :)

    Absolutely, or at least Money put in various pots that could be combined to be an emergency fund in a dire emergency. (Which is what I seem to have at the moment...)

    It feels like the weekend - I'm on a course tomorrow and i left everything up to date when I left this evening so I've no marking over the weekend :j

    Today has been really rather nice. They are not the easiest class I've ever had and its getting bigger by the day at the moment :eek: but they are settling down and are definitely less wearing than they were:p. Remind me I said that the next time they have worn me to a frazzle!

    In money news I've still got no rent but prompted by Martin's email I did app!y for and M&S credit card before the deadline and it was accepted so as long as I spend £100 on it in the next two months and buy something from M&S with it then I'll have £55 worth of points and vouchers to spend on lovely things:) . I always think those meal deals with wine look rather nice so I might treat us to one:D
    Other mfw successes are;

    Cleaned out and organised the freezer and did a proper inventory. I now know what is in there and where. The main thing that came out of my inventory is I need to step away from the ys luxury bakery goods :rotfl: They all look yummy though so we'll be eating well for a while.

    Defrosted cauliflower cheese, dauphnoise potatoes, stuffing, roast veg, red cabbage and lo pigs in blankets for an easy mock roast dinner tomorrow night. I also found two duck carcasses (as you do) so they are in the slow cooker overnight on low to make stock for gravy and a few things that are on the menu plan for this week

    Nsd

    Quick kitchen clean and emptied all the bins.

    Load of laundry in the machine with half quantities of liquid.

    Spin class done and showered at the LC with half quantities of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel :)

    Cheap healthy eats (overnight oats for breakfast, lo carbonara from the freezer for lunch, dal, pilau rice and him naan from the freezer (seeing any patterns?:rotfl:) for dinner). Lunch tomorrow will be egg Mayo in posh ys rolls as I have eggs that need using up.

    Thought through February's goals which will be;

    Exercise 4 times a week

    Drink 2 litres of water

    Tidy the garden and get rid of the last bits of that b****y shrub :mad:

    Get to bed by 10.30

    Finish my book, its really good but I get distracted by other stuff and don't read like I used to.

    £430 into os pot

    £880 into avc

    As its a four week month budgets will be

    Grocery £128

    Fuel. £120

    Personal £46

    Personal spends are looking iffy already as I've spent £12.19 on holiday goodies and I'm going out tomorrow night:eek: Might not be doing much else in February!

    I'm off for the latest installment of Silent Witness with lights out by 10.30.

    Happy Thursday :)

    Saturday yey:j

    I'm in bed with a large coffee, love this weekend treat :D

    I had a night out last night which is unusual for me as i tend to socialise at home or in friends homes these days. It was with my oldest mates ( we met at primary school) and they are such good fun and we always have a good gossip and lots of laughs. Can't really cope with late nights these days but glad I went. Tickets were £10 but as I was driving and offered taxi service I had no other spends as my drinks were provided by way of a thank you.

    Other than that there were no other spends yesterday. In other money news I have rent:j so I paid off my cb cc that I have for grocery and fuel which was quite large this month as it also had buildings insurance and a car service on it. So a nice, clean start to the new month has now been achieved thank goodness.

    Today's to dos are;

    Go to bank with dd to sort out some stuff. She's saving like mad for a house deposit and is doing really well. So proud of her :)

    Sort out roast dinner for tonight

    Housework

    Tidy garden if the weather improves

    Food shopping

    Help ds with his homework

    Happy weekend :)

    Thanks ETE, it was a relief. I was getting a bit twitchy. Brought home the true value of mse. Very, very glad of my savings and emergency fund at the moment :A

    Hope you are well xx

    I've had a total motivation fail today:o. I'm not sure if it was my late night or just a bout of sloth but I just haven't got going today and I've had to force myself to do every little thing.

    I went with dd and sorted out her money things. She didn't really need me, its just a confidence thing but she handled it all herself and I'm happy to tag along for as long as she needs me. Very proud of how she's planning her future, she's far more astute than I was at that age.

    Other slowly and painfully achieved successes included;

    Uniform, pe kit and disgusting, smelly pe trainers :eek: washed and on the airer.

    Made lemon curd with S6 lemons and butter from the freezer which I made a while ago using ys cream. One batch is in the fridge and will go in a lemon cake I rediscovered while tidying the freezer and another two batches have been frozen.

    Did the food shop. This £20.65 in Aldi where I stuck to my list except for honey, chicken stock cubes and cream cheese that weren't on the list but should have been! My only non planned item was lemons as the were great value this week as ds loves hm lemon curd. Other grocery spends were 73p on onion salt and £2.97 on chopped garlic and ginger, cornflour and toothbrushes from hb. This has put me £3.74 over budget for this week so I need to avoid any top ups.

    Roasted a turkey crown in the air fryer. The kids are out and a out tonight so we'll have a roast tomorrow. The remainder is earmarked for turkey curry, turkey and gammon pie and turkey and mushrooms in creamy garlic sauce later in the week. Hope we don't start to gobble:rotfl:

    Everything felt like such an effort today so I'm hoping for an energy surge tomorrow:rotfl:

    One good thing about taking things at a steady pace is I've had time to think. I've felt a bit vulnerable financially this week due to late rent and tenants giving notice. This is a bit silly and unproductive really as worrying solves nothing but it doesnt stop you though doies it? Also, due to mse and the wonderful tips and advice you get along the way its a setback not a crisis.
    I budget my outgoings including my mortgage, pension and additional avc purely on my salary. There's literally no wriggle room but its covered. The rent is earmarked to cover annual costs, holidays, personal spends and MOPs so a few months without rent isn't great but neither is it disastrous. I also have an emergency fund and my savings and MOP in my offset savings. This would not have been true once upon a time and for finding these boards and the skills they've helped me to aquire I am truly grateful. I have thanked my lucky stars for the safety net I now have in place a number of times in the last few weeks.
    Its also helped to reconcile my ongoing pension contributions v MOP dilemma. My avc contributions are very tax efficient and give a return way beyond my MOP (20% v 2.75%) so on pure economics everything should be going into my pension. However, when thast money goes into the pension pot its gone until i retire. My OS payments on the other hand save me interest on my mortgage but are accessible in an emergency or if circumstances change. In addition, I hate the thought of debt and being MF is of huge significance to my overall well being. So this week has reinforced that I've done the right thing for me by doing a bit of both ( whilst weighting it towards my pension). I shall remind myself of this when rent and salary are ticking over and I restart my pensions v MOP debate with myself :p

    In other news, having used half quantities of dishwasher tabs, laundry liquid, shampoo, conditioner , toothpaste and mouthwash I have notice no difference in performance whatsoever:T. The kids also don't seem to have noticed the reduced heating hours or the lower temperature:money:

    Off to catch up on some TV before I go and collect ds.

    Happy Saturday night to you :)

    PP xx
