Thanks Jue. I’m finding the whole thing rather addictive to be honest but not sure I will be able to keep it up like this for the full 6 years. Have succumbed to put the heating on tonight, I’m absolutely perishing. Been out a couple of times as it’s was my boys first session at Beavers which he seemed to enjoy. More money to hand out but it’s not too bad and it is in the budget. Subs for this term are £38 and I’ve got to get him a sweatshirt (to adorn with all his badges) which is about £16. Thanks for all the advice about Circle and Prolific. I’ve downloaded the circle app and set up the basics and I registered and set up my profile on Prolific last night. Think I might get my old laptop out for PA as the 2 that have come up were both for desktops only not a tablet.

Although it’s been a short week I’m glad it’s Friday tomorrow as I’m worn out. New job was started 7 weeks ago and I’m not 100% convinced but it’s more money so.......Job was advertised at 30 hours but when I started found out the previous role holder did 37 hours but nothing has been taken out of role, I’m just expected to do the same in a day a week less  Had a meeting today about it and “solution” was if you are struggling let us know and we’ll see if someone can help out. Hoping going forward I can manage but as I’m still learning (or rather teaching myself) it’s not a good situation. Still I’m just focusing on my mortgage free day, and having a little moan along the way :coffee:

Well what a day. Spent all day fire fighting a deluge of emails so got no real work done, hence I’ve brought some manuals home to read this weekend in the hope I’ll know what I’m doing next week! My boy refused to go to bed; I’ll just leave it at that and let you fill in your own blanks. The clutch is going on the car. Was driving home and pulled up to a roundabout and thought what’s that rattling noise? By the time I got home I worked out it only rattled when I pressed the clutch pedal so Googled when I got home. Sounds like it’s the bearings in the clutch so new clutch it is then. Will call at the garage in the morning to get it booked in but I expect it will cost around £400. Just hope it will last out until I can get it replaced.

I am going to be positive though, the money for car repairs is in the bills account as I put £50 a month towards insurance, tax, breakdown and maintenance. The car only cost me £30 to get through the MOT last year as amazingly it didn’t need any work and I had a puncture repair done just over a year ago so most of this year’s maintenance money is still there and a bit left from the year before so it’s covered.

Today is mortgage day and I’ve also just made an overpayment of £50 so my current mortgage balance stands at £62,095.81. The interest charged was lower again this month at £138.83. I might have a few pounds left at the very end of the month as when all bills and childcare money is allocated I clear the account down to a pound the day before payday :)

  • Boooo to car costs. Hopefully it will be fine until it can be booked in. I'm amazed £50 a month does all your car related costs though. I do £70 a month for repairs related stuff alone.

  • Just popping in to say Well Done on all the overpayments! I'm a Mum of a two year old boy but couldn't imagine trying to overpay as a lone parent.
I'm a big fan of Prolific. I work from home on the computer on a Friday and leave Prolific open in a separate tab on my browser. I usually get between £10-£20 most Fridays for completing the surveys which has helped us out loads over the past couple of years.

Hi Wishing, I’ve got a Peugeot 107 which is only £20 road tax a year, my comprehensive insurance was £160 plus a £40 Amazon voucher and the breakdown cover was £99 with £45 cash back so £280 which leave £320 this year for maintenance. Dropped car at garage this morning but don’t think they can do it until Wednesday so will have to try and negotiate working from home for a couple of days or going in late/leaving early as it’s a 90 minute bus/walking journey as opposed to 25 mins in the car, It depends if I can get the software onto my very old laptop to give me access to all the systems. If I can work from home then Ohtobe I too will try to dip into Prolific. I might actually get more done at home as there will be no disturbances. Ballpark figure for new clutch is £350

Did my first 2 Prolific surveys last night, followed by an hour getting kicked out of SB surveys, the difference is amazing! I’m about half way to a £5 M&S voucher on SB then I’m calling it a day with them. Managed to get some gardening done yesterday with my little one trying his hardest to destroy the veg patch. Had a chat with a neighbour about whether it was too early to plant out courgettes and we decided it was. I did plant out my cosmos I’ve grown from seed though as the internet was vague and just said when the risk of frost has passed. I was a bit worried last night when I let the dog out before bed and I could see my breath but they look ok this morning. Moved some other seedlings into the cold frame and they look ok this morning when I opened it up. I’ve got some gladioli bulbs from last year that I want to get into today otherwise they won’t come through and I’ve got spinach in the cold frame to put in the garden. So loads to do in the garden to add to my incredibly long to do list for everything else. Top priority though is to try and get laptop sorted so I can work from home if I’m allowed :o

Hope you all have sunshine where you are and can get out and enjoy it; have a lovely day

So I’ve got two days working from home and so far I’ve been more productive here than in the office. Also no one minds here if I talk to myself :D. I’m also viewing this as a money saving interlude (I’m in denial at the moment about the upcoming garage bill). The way I see it I am saving two days of petrol and about £10 in the bus fare had I had to go in by bus. Sideline benefits are I’m getting more done, (this is a late lunch break as I got carried away with my spreadsheets), I’ve done a Prolific survey and I’ve paid another £10 off the mortgage following an account tidy. Extra extra benefit the sun is out. :j
