NEW AND SHINY!!!:j:j:j:D:)

This will be the PREPPING thread inspired by this long running thread

Votes took place here on what this thread is designed primarily for:) outcome was as follows....

54% One thread please politics or not - all prep chat welcome
11.29% Two threads - one Brexit based politics welcome, one general life based, preferred no politics
19.35% One thread, no politics please, this is OS
14.52% I don't honestly mind

So with these differing opinions, please bear this in mind and enjoy the thread :) Be respectful and enjoy the community. I really hope everyone's happy with the outcome. I tried to be as fair as I could.

Let's not forget the intermittent prepping thread :)

Guidelines

* All posters are welcome. This thread doesn't "belong" to anyone (not even me :rotfl:)

* Please be nice to all moneysavers :A

* Let's all draw a line in the sand and move on from previous threads and disagreements etc

* Would love to see new people joining in here and existing posters who have gone quiet for whatever reason

EVERYONE IS WELCOME :)

Enjoy the new thread Ladels and Jellyspoons. I've made this a sticky to ensure it gets a great start and lots of contribution.

From the previous thread, let's not forget how this started - from vanoonoo
the boy scouts among us will be prepared, but are the rest of us ready?

IMPORTANT NOTE: this thread is a resource for those who want to prepare in an old style way for a variety of scenarios - anything from c0-0p running out of milk to a full scale breakdown in society as we know it - if you don't think you can cope with this sort of discussion please don't read any further! it is not meant to alarm or ridicule, just allow open discussion in a frank but sometimes lighthearted way - that said, all constructive view points are welcome so please join in!

please see a great post from GQ about some thoughts of a home without water and what we would need http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?p=57006775&highlight=#post57006775

we've got the storecupboard thread and I can see many people talk about Grab and Go (GAG)/bail/bug out bags (BOB) and getting ready for when the proverbial hits the fan
this is what got me thinking - cross posting sorry but thanks to pugsley

I wondered if it would be good to have a more detailed thread not just about store cupboards for food but for other items, perhaps (to keep it old style), along the lines of air raid shelter/WWII preparedness, with the necessary modern additions

apologies if this has already been done, feel free to merge but I'd rather stay old style if possible to keep it real! :A

  • Well - that was a fair way to deal with this Zippy.

Back to business as per normal then.
  • I guess I'd better make a post, so I'll be able to find the thread, when I search by my Username.

Sending positive thoughts this thread's way.

I think I may have posted once on the long thread but I was a frequent lurker and really value all the advice, wisdom and camaraderie it contains, even if I myself am not really up to the task of contributing meaningfully.

    YAY!!!!

the majority voted 54% One thread please politics or not - all prep chat welcome

I can't say what people can and can't discuss. I guess if it's relevant to the thread and not just political rants etc and contentious issues then that's ok? I would say let the thread find its groove and take it from there. If something's being discussed people don't like, other tangents of conversation will always run on so contribute to the parts you appreciate and that interest you? I dunno! :rotfl:

As long as people are considerate of other peoples feelings and limits, and are respectful, then i can only see the thread growing to be another essential resource.

That's nice - maybe you just feel a little bit braver and can contribute when you have something of value. Which i'm sure is more than you realise!!

There's no rule as to how often someone has to post - their opinion is just as valid regardless of post count.

Least those are my thoughts :o
