My claim was for mobility really i have a mobility car so i would be happy with just that.
Plus i have a disabled child he gets lower rate mobility but the car helps with him alot.
If they didnt asked about my walking just about my care needs do u think i have sent enough proof about my condition and they are just wanting proof about how i cant do things without help.
Any question theg asked about making meal or preparing food i said i cant because i dont make any. But they asked if i could peel a potato and i said yes. Would being able to peel a potato mean i can prepare a meal.
Thanks
Kim
You were asked about preparing food and making a meal, as you answered you said you don't make any food i'm assuming you have a partner that does this? How would your child eat otherwise?
There's many more descriptors to the daily living part, other than preparing a simple meal. Did you take a look at them before you attended the assessment?
Unfortunately it's a just a matter of waiting now for the decision. Requesting a copy of the assessment report will give you an idea.
If not successful then you would lose your mobility car but you can ask for the Mandatory Reconsideration. Hopefully it won't come to that and you'll be successful.0 -
To be honest no i didnt look at the points. I just want to keep the car because i would be housebound without it.
I did sent in evidence of my physical disability.
My husband helps with all my care and my sons.
I tbink i am just over thinking things what was said and trying to figure out why certain questions where asked and others not.0 -
You've said that you can't cook because you don't make any meals. However, not making meals doesn't mean that you are unable to do so. Did you explain why you can't cook?0

Just because of not being very mobile really. I can peel and cut food no problems with hands. It the standing and moving.
I dont think now i give a proper answer0 -

DLA was completely different to PIP. For DLA high mobility was 50 metres but for PIP it's 20 metres but can you walk that distance regular, reliably, without pain and discomfort.
It's too late now to think of all the questions that were asked because the assessment is done. If a decision doesn't go in your favour then you can ask for a Mandatory Reconsideration. Getting help with that part would be something to think about.0 -
The next two weeks will be a good time to read up online about PIP, OP, and to gather all the evidence you have, nothing over 2 years old usually counts and they won't want appointment letters.
Thats not true i have just completed my daughters PIP forms in the information it states it doesnt matter how old the reports/information are.0 -

If sending evidence that's older than 2 years, it's always recommended you send more recent evidence to back it up. Future appointment letters aren't classed as evidence either.
Quite right!
When I had my DLA-PiP transfer last year (home visit), the paperwork asked for evidence to be as recent and relevant as possible. (They specifically asked that you don't include pages simply downloaded from the internet which simply describe your condition)...and within two years was requested.
However, I included a report from one of my specialists, which was approaching being ten years old....the assessor had clearly had a copy and referenced it in their report - citing that it was an old report, but that their observations suggested that the information was still relevant today (It is for a physical condition that will never improve)
(For other conditions I was able to produce evidence from specialist visits within the past year)0 -

You can get a perching stool, and so the answer is that you can cook but choose not to. The cooking question is not about mobility, it is about care.
It's too late to think that you haven't given proper answers, but if you don't receive the award that you think you should get, you could give additional information then. However, as I said above, the cooking question is about care, not mobility.0 -

A perching stool is classed as a aid for the preparing meals activity , and would score two points.
1. Preparing food.
b. Needs to use an aid or appliance to be able to either prepare or cook a simple meal. 2 points.
This is from the PIP assessors guide:
"In this activity, aids and appliances could include, for example, prostheses, perching stool, and spiked chopping boards."
