    Ask the person who told you they were £50-£70 trade price where they are that price.

    As you are expecting to pay trade price one must assume you are in the trade. So why are you asking us?

    Reminds me of a regular scenario when I worked at a franchised dealer (not VW).

    Customer: "How much is a key for my XXXX"

    Me: "About £150"

    Customer: "That's rubbish, my mate said it's about £50"

    Me: "Then give your mate £50 and ask him to supply you a key"

    Customer: "He doesn't supply keys"

    Me: "Your choice then, £150 to get a key or £50 to not get one"


    Not surprisingly I rarely won customer service awards!
