HSBC Uswitch £175 offer 22nd Aug 19 at 11:11 PM
    Hi ,

Iím considering making the switch but have some questions ...

    - Iím currently with Barclays . Do you think I should inform them that I am thinking about making the switch because itís an account with similar benefits and the lure of £175 and see if they offer anything ?

    - if I do switch will all my pay etc go into my new account seamlessly ? Iíve read that some direct debits etc get lost ?

    - what is the actual process ? I sign up and then immediately all my outgoings and incoming money goes to my new hsbc account ?

    - can I keep my existing credit card I have with Barclays or does that need to switch too ?

    Thanks in advance

I assume the T&Cs of the Uswitch offer are the same listed here for going via money.co.uk

so reading that, I assume as long as we applied for the account before the deadline then we are good, provided we then do the switch within 30 days of course.

Also, I could then setup 2 standing orders from my donor account to pay 2 of my other accounts a fixed amount and that will do? I take it standing orders are setup immediately instead of the direct debits which will take a week or so?

Thanks for your help Gary and eskbanker!

I have made the switch , or should I say , started the application process .

I honestly couldnít stick with Barclays after my recent experience as it would go against every moral fibre of my being...

So I'm switching to HSBC then will eventually move to First Direct. Looking forward to £175 next month.

I'm not even getting an application rejected message, so really don't know. I've spent over an hour waiting on their customer service number and still nothing.

they did this to me back in 2017 when I applied for their switching offer. Went through fine online, didnt hear from them until months later saying they were sorry and that they were working through a backlog due to the incentive. So I wouldnt hold your hopes of getting an account any time soon let alone the offer.

    HSBC Switch Success
I was just having a nosey at this thread and can see a lot of questions regarding the switch process. I applied to switch at the end of July, purely to get the £175 bonus. 5 days after the application I hadn't received a confirmation email, so I applied again (assuming the application didn't go through). Then a card appeared in the post and without any warning or paperwork the switch process started on 5th August. The switch itself was relatively pain free but getting my mobile/ telephone & internet banking set up WAS NOT. This took approximately 3 weeks and 2 visits into Glasgow City Centre to my closest branch. However - the £175 bonus was paid just 4 days after the switch date so in my opinion it was worth the pain. I will keep using HSBC for wages and bills (Monzo for everything else) for 6 months then I'll switch again.

My one piece of advice would be - do not fill out the memorable data information on the paperwork provided (in my case after the switch happened). This can be done in a branch and is instant as long as you haven't sent the paperwork already.

Hopefully this helps and good luck!

Anyone been paid out yet? My switch took place on Thursday. Iíve paid in £2000. Seen on other forums this triggered the payout right away but not in my case.

i applied online on the 13th of august. i didn't have to wait for anything, they just told me online that i was accepted, and got my card and stuff after three days or so.

switch officially finished on the 28th, with my old account gone.

i didn't get the money yet, but when i do I'll update here, so that people have some sort of a timeline to compare against

I got my card and everything today. Registered and all setup online. I don’t see the option to switch? I didn’t do it at the time of registering as the account I was switching didn’t have active direct debits. When I read their switch instructions you need to do it at a local branch? Surely not?

Have people started receiving their payments yet? I opened the account before the 15th August (not sure of exact date as I never got the welcome documents email, only a mail saying my debit card was on it's way a day or two later). I got confirmation my switch was completed successfully on 31st August, I can see my Halifax account is closed and Standing Orders/Payees/Money have transferred over, but so far not sign of the £175. I will wait up to the 30 days but was just curious of other peoples time scales.

Sorry I missed your post, can't advise unfortunately as I switched at the time of opening the account. I would recommend giving them a call and seeing if you can speak to the account switching team on the phone, I know Lloyd's used to do this so very likely other banks do too.

Exactly the same dates for me. I also transferred £2k over from another account. No £175 yet. Will give it the 30 days but got a bad feeling about it as numerous over posters on Hot Uk Deals who took up the offer (during previous promotion) had theirs paid immediately upon transferring in more than £1750.

Glad I'm not alone! As soon as I hear anything I will update. I read the same posts on HUKD, but overall have found HSBC slow on a few things so hoping it's just the volume of people opening accounts making it slower.
