    Hello all,
Welcome to the opening of the 2019 Cross Stitch and Craft Cafe. I've renamed the cafe to include 'craft' as lots of us do other crafts as well as cross stitch.
We love to see your makes, so please do post photos so we can see your lovely work.
The 2018 cafe thread is here

    Morning all,
I'm 99.5% there with Collecting Shells. Finished the sea/sky on Monday evening then finished off the hair stitches on Tuesday. I started the (very little) BABS around her face, hands etc. and realised there were more stitches I'd missed as obviously I had got bored/put my stitching down/forgot where I'd stitched to etc, So frustrated I cannot tell you. DH helpfully told me to 'burn it' as he'd been out for a drink and obviously thought he was being funny!
My Dad was here last night and tonight is fat club so no chance of picking it up again until tomorrow night. It will be finished before the weekend is out
Nmm - what are you stitching now?

I bet you can't wait to complete it, sadly they seem like a chore sometimes but the final stitch is totally worth it. Love the pretty maids kit, looks fun.
I've still not decided on anything, was looking for a nice Sunflower design, then got side tracked by Narrow Boat designs, haha. I may just make a start on some Christmas cards, is August too early?

    Morning!
I'd say it's never too early for anything Christmas related and I'm speaking to myself here as need to make some cards too
Looking forward to the home straight tonight although my bff is ringing me so hopefully I won't be sewing too late. The sheep design is rather disappointing - the original painting has shading on the sheep and the mountains but it appears the cross stitch designer has those as blocks of the same colour. I may try blending the sheep white with a strand of grey and see how that looks. Not starting it just yet. Don't want it looking like a contrived cartoon iyswim?
Not sure what has happened to this week but it's gone in a flash. 3lbs on at fat club which was totally undeserved and I told the group so - been eating loads of soft fruits, salads and no carbs all week so it just doesn't stack up
Not a lot planned for the weekend which is nice - what's everyone else up to?
Hopefully back on later with a Ta-dah moment!

Sorry about the weight gain, hopefully just a blip on their scales and you'll have at least 3lb off next week. I've had lower back pain for over a week and nausea google said it maybe a kidney infection so i'm drinking loads of water, it seems to be helping, I hope it does as I react badly to antibiotics. I've been crocheting some bobble sheep and I've sorted the threads out for my first Christmas card, I look forward to your Ta-dah moment

    Morning!
No ta-dah moment just yet unfortunately. I didn't start stitching until about 8.30pm as dad rang and was also waiting for bff to call but she didn't. Was watching channel 5 - celebrities go barging with John Prescott, Michael Beurk, Barry from eastenders, Anita Harris and Alma from Corrie. It was the last episode of their two week adventure. Quite amusing and looked lovely chugging along towards Stratford upon Avon. Thought of you nmm!
After that there was a documentary about Cher. Very interesting and I don't mind her/her music so was quite good background noise for my stitching.
Got all the rogue stitches on the dress/around her foot done. BABS although not loads, was quite bitty around the Shells. Took it off the frame and realised there was one shell still to outline which is in the midst of some shadowing of the girl. Realised more stitches weren't done and just couldn't face it as it was well after midnight by that time! I will finish it off later when I get a chance.
Nmm - sorry to hear you are poorly. Worth a trip to the docs just in case?? I'm all for self medicating but this sounds painful xx
Back later, have a good day.

So here is the new thread for 2019! Hope to see lots of photos and updates throughout the year (speaking to myself here of course!).

    My goals are:
    1. Finish Collecting Shells that I started 10.1.16 (yes I am sad enough to keep a list)
    2. Finish my crocheted blanket
    3. Make some exciting and beautiful cross-stitched Christmas cards for my buddies (so I don't get embarrassed by lack of time/skill/inclination in December 2019)
    4. Frame gingerbread trio for Christmas 2019
    5. Resist temptation to take out yet another 5 for 5 issues subscription as I have far too many projects waiting to be started as it is (nmm I'm looking at you here tut tut!)
    6. Take photos of progress and update the thread regularly - not doing too badly
    7. Finish RSN stumpwork 'Beehive' design
    8. Finish Pretty Little London

Will add to this list as the year goes on but that's enough for now!
    Happy crafting everyone

Thanks nmm! I did treat myself to a small glass of red last night and it went down a treat
Today I have been browsing P!nterest for Christmas card designs but also found a book that I forgot I'd bought oooops. Anyway I'm all sorted so just need to dig out some fabric.
I need to frame my latest finish plus her two friends Miss Daisy and Miss Cosmos. Will probably have to sell a kidney! Can you remind me nmm where you get your frames from please?

For my custom frames I used https://www.easyframe.co.uk/ what are the dimensions as sometimes regular size frames can fit.

    Hi all,
Happy Bank Holiday for those that have one
Nmm - indeed - fame at last! Lovely to 'see' you. We have the same hair lol!
The little owl card is lovely. You are doing so well with your one card a month plan.
I found some Christmas card designs earlier in the week. They are in a book I bought at Ally Pally in Oct 2017 but had forgotten about.... oops. Some of the DMC colours are lower numbers and I don't appear to have them or indeed be able to source them online which is odd as the book was only published in 2017. Will check mums stash next Saturday when I go down there and if needs be I will substitute for a different colour.
Going to wash, dry and press my little ladies this week. The framers near to my mum is only open Tuesday to Saturday and I couldn't make it on Saturday, so next week it is.
I've been carrying on with Pretty Little London in the meantime - photo to follow.
Hope you all have a great day - roasting here in Kent

Coxy, pretty little London is lovely, I like nice simple stitches after completing big projects. Not sure if these are your numbers some dmc thread got renumbered https://cloudsfactory.net/discontinued-colors As for the hair, center parted, straight and flat it never changes unless I add a fringe which I instantly regret doing.

Currently stitching the free gift that came with the mag, its a santa design mounted in a hoop, next month has some wooden tree decorations.

    Morning all,
Thanks for the thread tips nmm, much appreciated. I still need to wash my little ladies and will do so tonight as need them dry and steamed before Saturday. It's fat club tonight so will do it after that. My hair is side parting, no fringe - I know I would regret it too
No stitching done yet this week. BH Monday we had a family BBQ, and spent tuesday evening at my friend's house - her H has left after 20 years and she's in bits. Didn't get home until after midnight and have to get up at 6 for work so really struggled yesterday. Nice early night last night so I'm feeling refreshed now!
Hoping to pick up PLL tomorrow night and finish Big Ben
    Have a good day all

No stitching done for me either this week, not sure where the time has gone. Very nice of you to help your friend I bet that was a massive shock for her.

I hope to do some stitching over the weekend but still boat hunting

    Hello!
Happy weekend everyone. Hope the boat hunting proves useful nmm.
I put the little ladies into the framers today. Chose 1" wide oak frame and double mounts for each - pink for Miss Cosmos, beige for Miss Shells and blue for Miss Daisy, with an off white wider border. Cost is 66 each which is a little bit but worth it given the time they took.
Had lunch at the craft centre with mum, DH and DS2 then went to DSis house for a cuppa.
Off to our friends tonight. They are having a garden party so I hope the rain holds off.
Managed to finish Big Ben last night, so some progress on PLL.
    Have a good evening all.

at the 66 each maybe I should go into framing cross stitch, my frames cost no more than 30 for the big ones 50-60cm wide and I lace the back myself. Done a small bit of stitching on the santa he has hair and his beard

    Hiya,
Yes nmm, I know it's a lot of money but I have neither the time or skill to frame them myself. I've done smaller pieces in the past but these are sizeable so will need to bite the bullet
No stitching done yet this week despite DH being away with work. I'm off to my neighbour again tonight but only popping in to look at helping her to dismantle some furniture. I'm off next week and have a free day on Monday so will hopefully take it to the tip as her car is a coupe.
