Alternative to proposed re-schedule.

Not specific to any airline I think, but if you were offered alternative flights due to a delay but turned the offer down, suggested ones that suited you better (a full 24 hours later rather than 6 to 8 hours later) and the airline agreed to the 24 hour delay, would you still be entitled to compensation providing the reason for delay qualified in the first place?

    The regulation states:
    Article 8
    Right to reimbursement or re-routing
    1. Where reference is made to this Article, passengers shall be offered the choice between:
    (a) - reimbursement within seven days, ,,,,
    or
    (c) re-routing, under comparable transport conditions, to their final destination at a later date at the passenger's convenience, subject to availability of seats.
    Article 7.
    2. When passengers are offered re-routing to their final destination on an alternative flight pursuant to Article 8, the arrival time of which does not exceed the scheduled arrival time of the flight originally booked.....

So Article 8 above imposes its determination on Article 7.

6-8 hours later would still qualify for compensation anyway. The time limits for re-routing earlier or later are much shorter:
