We have a what's irritating you thread, and I think we need a thread for things that have made us smile, etc.

Me - well, we have a puppy who is now 8 months. I let her out this morning and was hoping to keep the door open for her to come in. But it was too windy. I was stood by the door waiting for her, expecting to see her come down the steps.

I then heard a tap at the door. She'd come down the steps, which I hadn't seen and tapped to be let in. She also taps to go out.

There are a pair of birds of prey that circle my estate and the nature reserve opposite. I'm not into birds at all so have no idea what they are but somebody said they were Red Kites. They fly quite low and when my dog was a tiny puppy one of them got a bit too close for comfort to her.

Derek, have you ever seen any siskins around your way? I took this photo of a couple on my sister's bird feeder. I'd never even heard of them before let alone seen them.

There is a pair of Goldcrest appear sometimes but not very often and I never see them in the summer.

I'm hopeless at recognising them as well, that's why I got myself a book
Once I have seen them a few times though, I get to know the markings and that makes it easier to spot new varieties.

I got flummoxed a couple of years ago when an albino house sparrow turned up at my feeders, it was white with dark markings, it took me ages to identify it as a sparrow then just as I got used to seeing it, it never came back

Amongst all the rude customers, there was a lovely little lad, must have been about 6 and he was so polite and pleasant to me, he put many of the adults I served today to shame with his politeness and good manners after a very crap stressful day he made me smile

Half an hour in my garden, in the sunshine, in February, more than enough to put a smile on my face

If I thought I would get away with it, I would cut the lawn but if I did, my neighbours would hear the mower and form a lynching party

the little lad that plays the drums to 'Come on Eileen' at the end of the Cow&Gate ad never fails to make me smile.

All the kids are great but i think he's especially good
