Thank you all for the lovely kind words and supportive posts. I've been meaning to come back for a few days but life - or maybe it was me - just unravelled and everything became overwhelming.

Doggy doing ok. We had a crisis Sunday but hopefully that was a result of dietary indiscretion rather than the cancer. Couple of trips to the vet Sunday, back again yesterday but he seems to be doing ok for now.

Just off to cook more fish and rice for his dinner. Will start catching up with everyone's news over the next few days.

Thanks for posting, Watty, and a couple of trips in one weekend doesn't sound like fun at all - still, if you're in a breathing space right now with it all, thats good.

    Thinking of you.

    Thanks for the welcome back.
Struggling but ploughing on. Have 10 items on bay of e as want to buy another freezer and am going to try to fund by releasing clutter. More on reasons for wanting another freezer to follow when have funds to follow through.

  • Hi Watty, I am so pleased doggy Watty is still with us and soldiering on. You take care of yourself poppet, good luck on the bay of E, it seems that the spenders amongst us are hitting it with a vengeance right now and things are selling well so fingers crossed for you.

I did a brilliant job clearing mortgage. And the company is now finally re-paid so I actually feel really MF. I need to work out some goals. I have rough ideas:
    • the company needs working capital (it now has its VAT and Corporation Tax saved so I can use that as working capital but I would prefer there to be some actual spare in the company). Am thinking around £6000 working capital if have tax and VAT put by each month.
    • The Watty Household needs an emergency fund. Not sure how high that should be am thinking £8,000
    • Retirement Fund needed over and above the pension I currently contribute too. Currently just £100 each month goes into a 6% savings scheme. Need a plan for this. I know my pension is not adequate and nor really is Mr Watty's although his is a Civil Service one and should be ok but it would seem we live beyond Civil Service means :) I'm not sure we can reduce our outgoings much more so we need a Retirement Plan

Fantastic! I like the idea of putting the sig into a post before you bring it into the present. And with that level of focus, financial freedom will turn up sharpish :)
