BT Monopoly of Fibre To The Home ?

Hi - I had Fibre To The Home (FTTH) installed by Openreach when I signed up for an 18 month contract with BT which has now expired. I live in a semi rural area near Preston and I have looked for alternatives on Moneysavingexpert, Switch, etc. Basically it looks only BT can provide the FTTH / High Speed or I have to go back to using the copper wire and very 'basic' Broadband speeds, which aren't fast enough. Can anyone suggest any alternatives I can try ? It looks like BT have stitched me up...

I guess it's the price you pay and/or pot luck in semi rural areas - most operators aren't prepared to cover the costs to provide a service for a small number of users. Similar here in east lancs too.0

BT don't have a monopoly. Any ISP can choose to offer FTTP/FTTH if they wish. Try Andrews & Arnold or Zen.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

There are other providers offering FTTP services. I imagine what's upsetting you is that the only "pound shop" quality provider that offers it is BT, the others in the FTTP market are proper ISPs that don't compete on price, nor offer "deals", cashback, prepay mastercards (etc etc) so don't get listed on moneysaving websites.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230

Because the setup is FTTH / FTTP, then Fibre to the Cabinet isn't an option. To change providers, I'd have to go back to slo-mo Broadband of 8-10 MB level through my phone line. The problem is that other providers aren't (yet) prepared to offer FTTH/P outside big cities for now.
How do I find out the ones that don't appear on comparison websites ?0 -

No, the regulator is there to stop BT from abusing its monopoly. Openreach being an absolutely classic example.0 -
