Are HUAWEI tablets any good ?
My wifes 5 year old Samsung Galaxy 2 is giving up the ghost and needs a replacement
She just plays games and emails on it !
Currys claim that the Mediapad T5 has a 2.36 Mhz 8 core processor - but only 16Gb storage - which should fit the bill perfectly - running Android 8

Don't worry - won't buy from Currys though...

No - I am aware that HUAWEI have been accused of spying but don't believe that my wife has any state secrets that matter0 -
These tablets come with a non-updatable version of Android 8 called EMUI 5.1 which is their own spying software !0

If its only used for games and email an Amazon Fire HD 10 would per fine. Better battery life and can be found much cheaper. No google play store as not pure Android but this can be installed quite simply if required. Lots of free games in the Amazon store.0

A lot of tablets are not updateable, or can only be updated by one version number of Android. Very few of the mainstream ones have vanilla Android, it tends to be modified by the manufacturer to meet their ends.
Whose to say that Samsung, Asus or Lenovo don't have spying software in them?
The only reason that Huawei is in the headlines is because they are Chinese AND a very large part of their manufacturing is geared around providing core equipment for major telecoms systems throughout the world.
This is more the fact that they are Chinese. 10 years ago MOD were looking for A0 plotters. They would be connected to classified systems. They never actually got them in the end because the chip manufacturers for this type of plotter were based in China or Taiwan and they were worried that they would contain back door code. Paranoia has a long memory0 -

I have a Huawei M3 Lite 8". Bought last March. Have had no problems with it. Came with Android 6 and upgraded to 7. Never had a problem with it.0
